Method 1 of 3: Prevent Dark Lips
Step 1. Moisturize your lips
Dry and damaged lips will appear dark.
- Use a quality lip balm.
- Choose lip makeup products that contain moisturizers such as shea butter, cocoa butter, and almond oil.
- Shea butter has been used for hundreds of years and is known for its antioxidant and moisturizing properties.
- Cocoa butter is often used to fight darkening of the skin due to wounds.

Step 2. Exfoliate your lips
Remove dead skin cells with a sugar scrub.
- Make a sugar scrub by mixing a tablespoon of granulated sugar or brown sugar with a little honey or olive oil to form a paste.
