Wrapping gifts in boxes is hard enough. But wrapping the basket ? Wait a minute. Oval, circle, hexagon; all of that difficult decoration. But with pretty plastic wrap in hand and plaster, you'll be surprised at your skills you didn't know you had.

Part 1 of 3: Preparing
Step 1. Take everything you need
Once you've assembled the basket, you're ready to start wrapping. Items may stand out a little, but not too much. And don't worry about the shape of the basket; any shape and size basket can be wrapped. Here's what you'll need:
- gift basket
- Picture plastic, plastic wrap, or wrapping paper (three times the size of the basket)
- Clear plaster
- Scissors
- Tie wire tape, pipe cleaner, anything to tie packages together
- Tape
- Plaster packing (optional).
Step 2. Lay out the plastic on the table and place the basket in the middle
Lay out the plastic on a flat surface and place the basket in the center of all sides. If the basket is very large, you may need more plastic, underneath the basket laid out horizontally.
Again, on all sides. That means the basket is centered right and left and up and down
Step 3. Center the basket so that the distance between the basket and the plastic front and back is 30 cm
The distance between the two sides may be only about a few cm, it doesn't matter. But for the front and back of the basket, center the basket on top of the plastic so that there is 30 cm, or slightly shorter, space on either side. This will cover the front and back of the basket and leave some plastic on top for a pretty decoration.
- When the measurement results are obtained, cut your plastic (or plastic wrap, etc.) to size. Again, if your basket is large, cut a sheet of plastic of the same size to cover the sides.
- Make sure all four sides are even. Line up the edges to be sure, align the edges to be sure and adjust as necessary.
Part 2 of 3: Wrapping Beautifully
Step 1. Lift the long side of the plastic and fold it over to the short side
Take the plastic front and back and lift it, press it into the basket, cover the two ends and put them together at the top. The plastic on the sides will stick out.
- Then, take the piece of plastic that touches the table (or surface) in the center to the side of the basket. Then there will be plastic sheets on the right and left sticking out. Do this on both sides of the basket.
- Or, you can flatten the sides. Pull it tight; there will be some overlap in the middle where the front and back meet, but that's about it. You can indeed tape on the bottom of the basket from there.
Step 2. Fold the front edge toward the back and the back edge toward the front
You remember the two sheets sticking out on either side of the basket, from the middle? Fold it in at the bottom edge (as when wrapping a regular gift box) then fold it in, the back first. Then fold the front over the back, creating a kind of V shape on the side of the fold.
Take the piece that you folded back (perhaps the front) and secure it with tape. Transparent, double-sided, or sealed plaster can be used. Cut the tape 5 cm long
Step 3. Hold the plastic at the top of the basket with your hands, and pull it tight
Now is the time to start making the festive lace on the top. Now, the plastic is glued to the sides and pops up. Just above the basket, hold the plastic and tie it as tightly as possible
While one hand is holding the knot, use your other hand to smooth the top. Spread the edges so they pop out symmetrically on all sides until they look the way you want
Part 3 of 3: Adding Ribbons and Finishing Touches
Step 1. Twist the wire ties around the neck of the basket
Place the wire tie tape where you held the lacy neckline at the top. It could also use a pipe cleaner, or anything that can bind. And remember, you can always remove it after the tape is attached
Alternatively, you can use a clear pack of tape around the neck, but this is not removable
Step 2. Tie a ribbon around the neck of the basket
A gift basket would be incomplete without ribbon, and the neck of your basket should be surrounded with ribbon. Tie it twice, forming a knot that won't come loose. Make sure the ribbon is facing forward!
If you wish, you can now remove the binding tape, pipe cleaner, or whatever you used to bind the package. The tape replaces the action of the fastener and will keep it from coming loose
Step 3. Glue the tape on every odd corner
The corners of an oval basket tend to be oddly shaped. If there is a small corner at the bottom of your basket (a circular object can cause this), apply the tape and fold it down if possible. The tape should be on the bottom of the basket and not on the sides.
- Then trim and adjust as necessary Your basket is sealed and ready. If you use plastic wrap, you can even send it in the mail.
- Need to paste a label? Best stick it around the tape. Can also be attached to the neck of the basket.
Tips
Use printed plastic for a personal touch and the basket still looks beautiful from the inside
