Sometimes pimples still appear even though you have made various efforts to avoid them. Fortunately, there are many ways you can follow to get rid of acne. The easiest option to follow is to use a topical product that contains glycolic acid or benzoyl peroxide. If you prefer a more natural method, you can use tea tree oil or ice. Try the treatment methods described one by one and “rest” your skin for 24 hours (or longer) before trying a different method.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Get Rid of Acne Fast
Step 1. Use hydrocortisone cream
This cream is an alternative option that is just as effective as cortisone injections. Instructions for use will depend on the cream used. In general, you can apply the cream directly to the pimple (maximum) twice a day.
If used in excess, hydrocortisone cream can thin the skin and trigger the appearance of more pimples. Follow the product instructions carefully to avoid overuse
Step 2. Solve the pimple using a special extraction device
Use a sterile extraction device (usually shaped like a mesh or small metal circle) to empty the skin pores. Clean the device from germs and the area around the pimple using a cotton swab that has been moistened with alcohol. Place the circular tip of the device on the pimple and drag the device with firm, consistent pressure.
- Only pop the pimple if the "peak" is yellow or white. If the pimple doesn't have a head or pus, the extraction process will be painful and may leave a scar.
- As much as possible do not break the pimple. Popping pimples can cause scars or make acne worse.
Step 3. Use a blue light generating device to get rid of pimples
Blue light is clinically proven to heal the skin and eradicate acne. Highlight the pimple using the glow-producing device for 6-20 minutes, depending on the instructions for use provided by the device manufacturer.
- Specific instructions for each device used may vary. Therefore, read the user manual carefully before you use the device.
- Blue light generating devices are usually sold at a price of around 500 thousand to 1.8 million rupiah.
- The use of this device is usually not recommended for people with rosacea or other skin conditions.
Method 2 of 3: Using Topical Products
Step 1. Use an acid-based product
Substances such as salicylic acid or glycolic acid can get rid of acne well. Acid-based products like this are usually sold in the form of creams or lotions. More specific instructions for use will depend on the product used. Usually, you can apply a small amount of lotion to the pimple, and rub it in a gentle circular motion.
- Salicylic acid or glycolic acid wipes are also available in stores. You just need to take a piece of tissue / paper from the package and gently massage it on the acne-affected area. After that, you can throw away the tissue / paper that has been used.
- You can also use a face wash that contains salicylic acid to reduce the appearance of acne in the future.
- After the pimple has cleared, try using a daily lactic acid product/treatment. This product can help prevent acne from reappearing.
Step 2. Use a benzoyl peroxide based product/treatment on the pimple
The specific technique that needs to be followed to get rid of acne will depend on the product used. Check the manufacturer's instructions for use before starting a treatment with a benzoyl peroxide-based product. Usually, you can directly apply the product (gel, cream, or lotion) on the pimple once or twice a day until the pimple disappears.
- Products made from benzoyl peroxide can kill acne-causing bacteria.
- Acne-fighting products that contain benzoyl peroxide can discolor fabrics. If you feel that the product will hit your clothes when you use it, it's a good idea to use the product before going to bed and already wearing an old shirt.
Step 3. Exfoliate after washing your face
Exfoliants are skin care products that are formulated to remove dead skin cells from the skin's surface. Instructions for use will depend on the product you want to use. However, you can usually take out a small amount of product and apply it to a cotton swab, then apply and press it on the acne-affected area of the skin.
You can wash your face with moisturizing soap, mild soap and water, or even just water
Step 4. Use a sulfur product
With a high pH level, sulfur helps restore the balance of acid levels that the skin needs to eradicate acne. The use of the product will depend on its form (eg gels, soaps and creams). However, usually you just need to clean the affected area and apply a small amount of the product directly to the pimple.
Method 3 of 3: Using a Solution or Following Your Own Solution
Step 1. Try using an aspirin mask
One of the main benefits of aspirin is to reduce inflammation and swelling, and the substances contained in aspirin are also useful for fighting acne. Crush five to seven aspirin-coated tablets and mix them with two to three tablespoons of water. After that, apply the aspirin paste on the pimple and leave it on for 10-15 minutes.
- For added antibacterial and moisturizing properties, add a teaspoon of honey, tea tree oil, or olive oil to the aspirin paste.
- Because children (and young adults) are at risk for developing Reye's syndrome, discuss the use of masks with your doctor before using them on children.
Step 2. Apply ice to the pimple
Like aspirin, ice is often used to relieve swelling and reduce redness on irritated skin. Wash your face with a mild cleansing product, then rinse with warm water and pat dry by patting a towel against your skin. Wrap an ice pack or ice pack with a towel, then apply it to the pimple for five minutes. After that, remove the ice and wait for five minutes. Continue this process for about 20-30 minutes.
- Repeat the treatment (maximum) 3 times a day.
- This treatment can tighten and narrow the skin pores.
- The use of ice (as described earlier) can reduce the size and color of the pimple so that the texture and appearance of the skin can return to normal.
- This method is only effective if the pimple is causing pain or stinging.
Step 3. Use tea tree oil (tea tree oil) with a concentration of five percent to eradicate acne
Moisten a cotton swab with oil and carefully dab or dab the cotton on the pimple and the area around it. Repeat the treatment once a day until the pimple disappears.
- If you can't get an oil product with a five percent concentration, mix undiluted tea tree oil with water. Use a ratio that will yield an oil solution with a concentration of five percent (eg 95% water, 5% oil). If you have sensitive skin, add more water.
- Shake the mixture before use.
- You can replace tea tree oil with neem oil.
- If used too often or the concentration of oil used is too high, the oil can damage the skin. Talk to your doctor about the safe amount and frequency of use to get rid of acne.
Step 4. Use a warm compress or steam to remove the pimple from the skin
Taking a hot shower for a long time can open the skin pores so that pimples can be pushed out. To get the same effect, you can also use a hot compress. Once enough of the pimple has been pushed out of the pore, use an extraction device to exterminate it. Alternatively, use a treatment product containing salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, or glycolic acid directly on the pimple.
Tips
- Keep your skin clean. Throughout the day, air pollution, dryness, and dirt will stick to the facial skin and worsen the condition of acne. Wash your face twice a day, and prepare and bring a cleansing pad or towel. Whenever your skin starts to feel greasy, dirty, or sweaty, clean your skin with the pad or towel.
- Don't use toothpaste to get rid of pimples. Many people believe that toothpaste can eradicate acne. However, toothpaste can actually remove moisture from the skin, increasing the chances of acne breakouts.
- Lemon juice can also irritate the skin so it should not be used on acne. You can use lemon juice-based products after your acne condition improves.
- Don't try multiple methods at once. The use of several methods at once or in a short period of time can actually cause more serious skin irritation. Try using one method first and wait for (at least) 24 hours. If you are using a stronger extermination method (eg exfoliating the skin using a glycolic acid product), wait a few days or weeks before trying another method.
- Don't put your hands on your face! Even if they look clean, your hands can actually spread the oil that causes acne. Your hair can also spread acne-causing oils so make sure you keep your hair clean and don't let your hair stick to your skin.
- Drink plenty of water, get enough sleep, exercise, and eat low-glycemic foods to balance the chemicals in your body and cleanse your skin naturally.
- Keep the pillowcases clean. Wash your pillowcase every 4-5 days to remove oil from your face and accumulated acne-causing bacteria.
- Take a shower after you do physical activities that make you sweat a lot to prevent the spread of dirt and bacteria on the skin.
- Make sure you remove makeup from your face before going to bed. Makeup can "catch" dirt and bacteria easily.
- See a dermatologist or dermatologist if your acne persists.
- If you want to cover up pimples with makeup, make sure you choose products carefully. Makeup products can hold onto oil and dirt, especially if they contain moisturizing agents. Use hypoallergenic, oil-free, non-comedogenic, or medicated products to reduce the appearance of pimples and help clear them out.
