Step
Method 1 of 4: Cutting Dry Hair
Step 1. Style your hair as usual
Before you start cutting your hair, style your hair as usual. Make sure your hair is styled the way you want it.
Step 2. Cover your neck and shoulders with a towel
Clamp the towel with a strong bobby pin or other tongs. The towel will help prevent hair from hitting your neck and getting into your clothes. You can also put newspapers on the floor to cover the hair you cut.
Step 3. Prepare the mirror
Before you start, make sure you can see the front and back of your hair by placing a mirror in front of and behind you. The two mirrors must face each other. Adjust the mirror so that you can see the back of your head in the mirror in front of you. If you have long hair, this step is optional because you can see the whole hair without an additional mirror when you cut it.
Step 4. Cut the hair
Use sharp scissors to trim the ends of your curly hair. Make sure the scissors you use are specifically for hair and are very sharp. Trim the hair near the ends or at the end of the curls. Start with the top layer and work your way through the hair, layer by layer.
Step 5. Separate the hair that has been cut
Once you've finished trimming the ends of a layer, use bobby pins to separate the trimmed hair from the uncut hair. Parting your hair will prevent you from cutting twice the hair that has already been cut. Continue cutting until all of the hair is clipped. This process can take a while, especially if you have thick hair. Be patient and don't rush.
Step 6. Shake the hair
When you're done, comb your hair with your fingers and shake it.
Step 7. Check the hair
Examine your hair from all sides and make sure it looks the way you want it. Use scissors to trim the areas that need repair. Look for strands that look longer than others or that look different and trim them as needed.
Method 2 of 4: Cutting Curly Braids
Step 1. Unravel the hair
Comb the hair until the comb can move easily through your hair, with or without resistance. Make sure there are no tangles and your hair is ready to braid.
Step 2. Divide the hair by 2.5 cm each and braid each section
Use a comb to separate sections of hair. After separating the sections, braid and tie them with a small hair band. Leave about 2.5 cm of the ends of the hair unbraided.
Step 3. Braid all the hair
Continue dividing and braiding your hair until the entire section is braided. The number of braids depends on the thickness of your hair, but you'll end up with a few small braids when you're done braiding.
Step 4. Cover the neck and shoulders with a towel
Clamp the towel with a strong bobby pin or other tongs. The towel will help prevent hair from hitting your neck and getting into your clothes. You can also place newspapers on the floor to cover the hair you cut.
Step 5. Cut each braid
Cut a quarter to half the end of the braid. Make sure the scissors you use are specifically for cutting hair and are very sharp. Make sure you cut straight and not at an angle.
Step 6. Remove the braid
Remove the braid and then comb your hair with your fingers and shake your hair.
Step 7. Check the hair
Examine your hair from all sides and make sure it looks the way you want it. Use scissors to trim the areas that need repair. Look for strands that look longer than others or that look different and trim them as needed.
Method 3 of 4: Trim Pigtails
Step 1. Unravel the hair
Comb the hair until the comb can move easily through your hair, with or without resistance. Make sure there are no tangles of hair and that your hair is ready for a double ponytail.
Step 2. Hair ponytail
Separate the hair into two sections and ponytail at the bottom. Bring the ends of the hair that have been in a ponytail in front of the shoulders so that you can see the hair freely.
Step 3. Cover the neck and shoulders with a towel
Clamp the towel with a strong bobby pin or other tongs. The towel will help prevent hair from hitting your neck and getting into your clothes. You can also put newspapers on the floor to cover the hair you cut.
Step 4. Determine the length of the hair
Decide how long you want the hair to be cut and hold the hair with your middle and index fingers.
Step 5. Cut the hair
For each pigtail, cut the hair slightly below your fingers in a straight cut. Make sure the scissors you use are specifically for hair and are very sharp. You can cut your hair at a slight angle if you want a slightly slanted cut. Make sure you cut each pigtail in the same direction.
Step 6. Remove the ponytail
Remove the two pigtails, comb your hair with your fingers and shake the hair.
Step 7. Check the hair
Examine your hair from all sides and make sure it looks the way you want it. Use scissors to trim the areas that need repair. Look for strands that look longer than others or that look different and trim them as needed.
Method 4 of 4: Cutting Wet Hair
Step 1. Wash hair and apply conditioner
After washing your hair, dry it with a towel and style your hair as usual. However, do not dry your hair with a tool. Let hair dry naturally until it's not too wet.
