This article will guide you to find out if a friend has blocked you on Facebook Messenger. Even though Facebook hides this information for privacy reasons, you can still tell if your messages are blocked by viewing certain errors.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Using a Phone or Tablet
Step 1. Open Facebook Messenger
Find the blue chat bubble icon with white lightning in it. This icon is usually located on your phone's home screen, or in your app list (if you're using an Android phone).
Blocking messages is not the same as blocking a profile on Facebook. When someone blocks messages from you, you'll still be friends with that person on Facebook, and you'll still be able to interact on each other's timelines. The person can also unblock messages at any time
Step 2. Enter your friend's name on the search bar
A list of names that match keywords will appear.
Step 3. Tap your friend's name in the search results to open a chat with that friend
Step 4. Enter the message in the text box at the bottom of the chat window
Step 5. Tap the paper airplane icon to send the message
If you receive the "This person isn't available right now" error, it means that the person has blocked messages from you, deactivated your Facebook account, or blocked you entirely on Facebook.
If your message arrives without an error, it has been received, and the recipient may not have access to the message
Step 6. Find out if the recipient of the message blocked you or deactivated his Facebook account
If you see an error message, the next step you should take is to find out if the recipient's profile looks "different" in the Facebook app.
- Open the Facebook app on your phone, and look for the name of the recipient of the message. The app has a blue icon with a white "f" on it. If you can't find the recipient's profile, they may have blocked you or deactivated your account. If the person's profile looks normal, it just blocks your messages.
- If you can't find the profile of the recipient of the message, ask your friends who are also friends with them to view their profile. If the mutual friend can see the profile of the recipient of the message, but you can't see the profile, your Facebook account has been blocked by that person.
