Playing video games on PS4 is fun, but game developers often need to fix bugs and glitches in their games. Fortunately, updating PS4 games is very easy to do. The most practical way is to turn on automatic downloads which will allow games to update in the background while the PS4 is in standby mode. Otherwise, you can manually update the game by selecting the game you want to play, then downloading and installing the update.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Preparing for Automatic Updates

Press this button again if you see an additional screen prompting you to do so. Select the user profile on the next screen that says “Who is using this controller ?” (Who uses this controller?) Then, press the “X” button.
Step 2. Press the top button on the controller and scroll to the “settings” screen
The settings button is white and orange with the device box logo in a white circle. You can find it between the power options and the trophy menu options. Use the D-pad (directional keys) or left thumb stick to navigate to the settings menu options, then press “X” to access them.
Step 3. Scroll down until you find “system” in the menu options

Step 7. Set the functions you want to be available in rest mode
Select the second menu option, “set functions available in rest mode”. This allows the game to be updated even when in rest mode. If you are a remote user, you should also select “enable turning on of PS4 from network”.
Step 8. Put the PS4 into rest mode before turning off the console
Hold down the central button on the controller, then use the D-pad or left stick to go to the power “power” option. Scroll down, and select “put PS4 in standby mode” (put PS4 into standby mode).
