Have you ever been mesmerized by the presence of a glamorous and elegant princess at a Disney theme park? With dedication and hard work, you too can land a job as a Disney princess. First of all, make sure that you meet all the requirements. After that, get ready for the audition by brushing up on your dancing and acting skills. If you succeed in getting the role, you will need to go through a series of training processes before working at an amusement park as a real Disney princess.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Checking the Requirements
Step 1. Make sure your age is eligible
You must be at least 18 years of age to audition for Disney princesses. Since Disney wants the princesses in its theme parks to look young, most of them are no more than 27 years old.
Step 2. Check that you meet the height and weight requirements
Generally, Disney is looking for people between 162 cm and 170 cm in height. It is made based on costume size and compactness reasons. Logically, if there were ten Cinderellas on the playground, they should look similar to each other.
Disney costumes are only available up to the US standard size 10 (size M in Indonesia). So, check if you meet the requirements. If not, you can try changing your diet to a healthier one and exercising more diligently to get thinner
Step 3. Prepare to move
If you don't live near Disney World or Disneyland, you'll need to move if you get the job. Make sure this is the job you really dream of. Disney offers employee-only housing, but you can also find your own place to live near the parks.
- If you want to work in the United States, Disneyland theme parks can be found in Anaheim, California, while Disney World parks are in Orlando, Florida.
- Internationally, Disneyland can be found in Paris, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Tokyo.
Method 2 of 3: Preparing for the Audition
Step 1. Find the nearest audition venue
To find auditions near where you live, visit https://www. DisneyAuditions.com. Auditions labeled as “Search for Female Roles Similar to Disney Characters” are usually made to search for princesses.
Step 2. Practice your dancing skills
In the first phase of the audition, the role recruiter will ask you to learn simple dance moves. If you're not a dancer, don't worry – the moves taught aren't that difficult. However, you should practice some basic dance moves.
Audition sessions usually involve some basic group choreography and beginner level ballet training. So, you may need to look for basic ballet or group dance tutorials online. You can also register yourself at the nearest dance studio
Step 3. Hone your acting skills
First and foremost thing you have to understand, all Disney princesses are actresses. If you pass the first stage, the role recruiter will ask you to read the script and improvise to assess your acting skills. You may need to watch previous Disney princess movies and practice imitating their voices and behavior. Record yourself reading scripts and acting in order to critically assess your own performance.
- Trying out a few acting classes can help you hone those skills, but it's not really necessary.
- You may need to join a local theater club or meet other actors to share knowledge and support each other.
Step 4. Prepare a face photo and resume
Face photos must be of good quality and printed on standard-sized letter paper in order to reflect your actual appearance. Your resume must include relevant achievements and experience, and should not be more than one page. Attach a resume behind the photo of your face.
- Make sure your face photos are always up to date. If your appearance changes, replace the photo of your face with a new one.
- Remember, the photo will be saved by the role finder team to represent you. Make sure the photo you submit reflects the best version of yourself.
Step 5. Arrive at least 15 minutes early
Disney's website recommends arriving 15 minutes before the audition begins. This will give you sufficient time to complete the re-registration process, fill out the required forms, and warm up. Auditions take place in a variety of places – visit the Disney website to verify your audition location.
- Even if it's not your fault, arriving late can reduce your chances of qualifying. So, do your best to arrive on time. Remember, you will also need to find a parking space before entering the audition location.
- If you're traveling to an unfamiliar location, it's best to arrive early in case you get lost. Some auditions usually arrive 45 minutes early!
- Disney auditions were conducted behind closed doors. This means, friends or family who come must wait at the place that has been provided.
Method 3 of 3: Mastering Your Job
Step 1. Complete your exercise program
Training as a princess takes four to five days. During that time, you will learn all the tasks that need to be done as a princess. You'll watch movies starring princesses in order to imitate their behavior and voices, observe active Disney princesses at work, and learn facts and trivas from the princesses. Each Disney princess puts on her own make-up. So, the cosmetic team will give you a hint of standard makeup too.
- Vocal exercises are carried out with a special dialect coach. Not only will you need to learn the accent, but you will also need to imitate the voice of the actress who plays the original character.
- Remember, you don't get to choose which Disney princess you want to play. Disney role recruiters will determine which princess fits your appearance, personality, and abilities.
Step 2. Wear princess makeup every day
As a Disney princess, you'll be putting on your own make-up every day to make your character feel more alive (after training from the cosmetics team, of course). Each princess has a different appearance. Snow White, for example, wore a bold pink blush, while Pocahontas had a more natural look.
The cosmetic team will also provide a wig to wear. This wig has great detail, and is washed and cared for almost every day
Step 3. Defend your character
The little ones who walk up to you will think you're a real Disney princess. So, it is very important to show convincing acting even if you feel tired after working under the hot weather all day. This means you have to take care of your language and voice when communicating, show behavior and gestures that match the character you are playing, and smile!
Smile throughout working hours. Yes, your facial expression may turn a little tired, but remember that the experience is meaningful – and magical – to the children and parents who meet you. Stay motivated for their sake
Step 4. Think fast
You will get a variety of funny questions from children (even parents). They may ask if you are a real princess, or why your hair looks fake. Stay calm and do your part while giving a friendly answer that is typical of a Disney princess.
To make it easier for you to respond, just remember a Disney movie you've seen. For example, if you play Cinderella, and a child asks what you do in the morning, just say "Oh, I was picking flowers with the fairy godmother!"
Step 5. Stay in shape
In the movie, the Disney princesses are quite skinny. So, you need to maintain an ideal body shape during work. Maintain your diet by eating low-fat protein, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Exercise for about 30 minutes each day or as often as you can to keep fit.
- Hit the gym after work, or practice a workout video guide during your break from work with the rest of the Disney princesses.
- Limit consumption of processed and packaged foods. These foods may be easy to eat on a busy workday, but they can be detrimental to your health and well-being.
Tips
- Show a good attitude during the audition. Being polite and friendly will have great long-term benefits.
- Make friends with your coworkers! You guys work together.
Warning
- You will need to re-audition every year to keep this job.
- Don't be disappointed if you don't get selected. The process for getting this job is very competitive.
