You can join a voice chat, either through the Discord app on your computer or on your mobile device. Set the microphone to transmit audio as you speak, or use the press-to-talk feature (Push-to-Talk or PTT). Method 1 of 2: On Computer
Step 1. Open Discord
You can find this application in the "Start" menu or in the "Applications" folder. If you don't have the Discord desktop app, you can download it for free from https://discord.com/. You can also use the browser version of Discord.
Step 2. Join the voice channel
You can see the channels under the " Voice Channels " heading. When you join, you can see a list of people who are members of the channel.
Step 3. Click the settings menu gear icon
It's to the right of your name, at the bottom of the channel list.
Step 4. Touch the Voice & Video tab
This tab is in the menu on the left side of the page. The right pane will change and show "Voice & Video" option.
Step 5. Touch Voice Activity or Push to Talk.
If you have selected " Voice Activity ", you can see a line representing the sensitivity of voice input.
- In order to use the Push-to-Talk feature in the browser, the channel window and tab must be active and focused. For example, you cannot open your browser and use the Push-to-Talk feature if you are playing a game in another window. If you want to use the PTT feature and hide the Discord window, you will need to download the Discord desktop application.
- You can change or set the PTT shortcut key in the " Shortcut " column. Just click the box, then press the desired button and select “ Record Keybind ”.
Method 2 of 2: On Mobile Apps
Step 1. Open Discord
This app is marked by a game controller icon on a blue background. You can find them on the home screen and app drawer, or by searching for them.
Step 2. Join the voice channel
You can join via the menu.
Step 3. Touch CONNECT TO VOICE
This option is at the bottom of the screen.
Step 4. Touch
It's in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Step 5. Touch Voice Settings
A new page will open.
Step 6. Touch Voice Activity or Push to Talk.
If you have selected "Voice Activity", you will see a free that represents the sensitivity of voice input.
If you select “Push-to-Talk”, the line will disappear and your voice will only be sent to the channel when you press a certain button
Step 7. Touch the back arrow icon
It's in the upper-left corner of the screen, next to "Voice". Once touched, you will return to the channel. If you have “Voice Activity” enabled, your Discord account avatar will be highlighted in green when the microphone is active.
- If you activate the PTT feature, you will see a PUSH TO TALK button at the bottom of the channel.
- You can turn the microphone off and on again by touching the microphone icon at the bottom of the screen. The microphone icon crossed out by a line indicates that the microphone is muted.
- You can turn the speaker off and on again by touching the headset icon at the bottom of the screen. The headset icon crossed out by a line indicates that the loudspeaker is turned off.
Step 8. Touch the end of call icon to exit the voice chat channel
It's in the lower-right corner of the screen, next to the microphone icon.
