This wikiHow teaches you how to report an issue to Instagram. Unfortunately, Instagram doesn't offer a customer service phone number and its support email address is no longer operational. However, you can take advantage of the app's built-in reporting system to report inappropriate content. If you need to report something to Instagram, you can do so via the Help Center webpage on a desktop computer or the "Report a Problem" section of the Instagram mobile app. However, you are not guaranteed to get a response from Instagram.

Method 1 of 4: Reporting Indecent Content
Step 1. Open Instagram
If you're using a phone or tablet, tap the Instagram icon to open it. The icon looks like a rainbow colored camera. If you are using a desktop computer, visit https://www.instagram.com/ via a web browser.
Type in your Instagram account email address and password if you're not automatically logged into your account. You can also log into Instagram using your Facebook account
Step 2. Touch and hold the private message or comment you want to report
If you want to report a private message or comment, touch and hold the message or comment to display a menu of options. On a computer, hover over a message or comment. This step is not mandatory for content other than private messages and comments.
Step 3. Click or touch,, or
to display the menu. Menu icons are displayed in different locations, depending on the type of content. Here are the menu button positions based on the content you want to report:

User profile:
Go to the profile of the user you want to report and click the three-dot icon in the top-right corner of the profile.

Shipments:
Find the post you want to report and click the three-dot icon in the top-right corner of the upload.

Comment:
Find the comment you want to report and tap the exclamation mark icon in the top right corner of the app window. If you're on a computer, hover over the comment and click the three-dot icon next to the comment.

Private message:
Open a thread containing an obscene private message. After that, touch and hold the message to display the menu at the bottom of the screen. If you're on a computer, hover over the message and click the three-dot icon next to it.

Stories:
When you see a Story that needs to be reported, click or tap the three-dot icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.

Live broadcast:
If you see inappropriate content in a live broadcast, click or tap the three-dot icon next to the comment section of the broadcast window.

Reels:
If you see a Reels video that needs to be reported, tap the three-dot icon in the lower-right corner of the screen.
Step 4. Click or touch Report or Report Comments.
For Uploads, Stories and Reels, this option is in the pop-out menu that appears when you tap the three-dot icon. For messages, the options are at the bottom of the screen after you touch and hold the message. For comments, the option is in the menu that appears when you tap the exclamation mark icon.
Step 5. Click or tap on the upload constraint
Select the constraint you found in the upload. There are a variety of issues you can report, including spam, sexual content, violence, bullying, hate speech, suicide prevention, and the like.
Step 6. Click or tap Submit Report
The post will be reviewed by Instagram and appropriate steps will be taken.
Method 2 of 4: Reporting Problems Through Instagram Mobile App
Step 1. Open Instagram
The icon looks like a rainbow colored camera. You will be taken to the main page if you are logged into your Instagram account.
Type in your Instagram account email address and password if you're not automatically logged into your account
Step 2. Touch
or your profile photo.
The button or photo appears in the lower-right corner of the screen. After that, you will be taken to the profile page.
Step 3. Select the menu button
This menu button looks like three horizontal lines and is in the upper-right corner of the screen. The menu will be displayed afterwards.
Step 4. Touch Settings
It's at the top of the menu. You will be taken to the Instagram settings page (“Settings”).
Step 5. Touch Help
This option is at the bottom of the settings menu. You can see it next to the ball icon.
Step 6. Touch Report a Problem
This option is the first option on the " Help " menu. The problem or problem reporting options will be displayed.
Step 7. Specify options
Choose one of the following options:
- ” Spam or Abuse ” (iPhone) or “ Report Spam or Abuse ” (Android) – This option provides instructions from Instagram's Help Center on how to report obscene content.
- ” Something Isn't Working ” (iPhone) or “ Report a Problem ” (Android) – This option allows you to report features that are not working properly in the app.
- ” General Feedback ” (iPhone) or “ Send Feedback ” (Android) – This option allows you to submit general feedback to improve or improve the quality of the app.
Step 8. Include a description of the problem or feedback
If you want to report spam or violence, use the app's built-in reporting system to report posts. If you'd like to report an issue or submit feedback, use the fields provided to type a description of the issue you're experiencing or your feedback.
You can also upload an image or snippet of the problem you are experiencing. To upload a photo, touch “ Gallery ” (Android) or “ Upload ” (iPhone) to select a photo. Alternatively, select " Take screenshot ” to take a screenshot. Select the camera image to take a photo.
Step 9. Touch Send or Submit.
If you are using an iPhone, select “ Send ” in the upper right corner of the screen. If you are using an Android device, select “ Submit ” in the upper right corner of the screen. Method 3 of 4: Submitting a Report Through the Help Center
Step 1. Visit https://help.instagram.com/ in your preferred browser
On this site, you can read Instagram's community policies and guidelines or get help with specific issues.
Step 2. Click Policies and Reporting
This option is at the bottom of the menu on the “Help Center” page.
Step 3. Click How to Report Things
A list of situations that require you to submit a report is displayed.
Step 4. Click the option that is closest to your situation
The " How to Report Things " page contains a variety of situations. Read each option to find the situation that most closely approximates your problem. The options are grouped into three categories. The first category features ways to report obscene content. The second category features ways to report intellectual property theft, and the third category lists the different types of special reports you can submit.
Step 5. Click the link to submit the report in text if available
Not every option offers a form that you can fill out. Some of the situation options provide an explanation of how to report content and tips for dealing with the situation. Several other options offer links to sources outside the Instagram site. There are also several options that display a link to a form that you can fill out and submit. If you see the text " report it ", " report this person to us ", " fill out this form ", or something similar in blue, click the link. Below are some forms that you can send to Instagram:

Step 6. Fill in the displayed form
The available forms will differ depending on the selected option. Answer the questions with the available information as accurately as possible.
Step 7. Click Send
When finished filling out the form, click the blue button labeled “ Send ” at the bottom of the screen to submit a report. You may get a response (or not at all) from Instagram, but they will try to resolve the issue you're having within a week.
Method 4 of 4: Troubleshooting
Step 1. Block violent or disruptive users
If you're frequently being bullied by someone on Instagram, the easiest way to stop the annoyance is to block them.
You can also report the user through Instagram's help center if he or she is illegally harassing or threatening other users
Step 2. Change your Instagram account password periodically
To avoid hacking or misuse of your account, change your account password at least every six months.
You can also reset your account password if you forget it (or when it no longer works)
Step 3. Set your account to be a private account
You can change the account status to private account. This means people who don't follow you can't see your content until you accept their follow request. Change account status via settings on Instagram mobile app:
- Open the app Instagram
- Tap the profile icon in the lower right corner of the screen.
- Choose " Settings ”.
- Choose " Privacy ”.
- Touch the "Private Account" switch.
- Choose " Yes ” when prompted.
Step 4. File an appeal if your account was blocked or disabled
