This wikiHow explains how to hide behind protective objects in the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 game. These instructions can be used in the third-person version of GTA 5 for the regular game, and the first-person version in the remastered game.
Step
Step 1. Get closer to the object that can be used for cover behind it
Some objects that can be used as protection include:
- Corner
- Box
- Car
- low wall
Step 2. Face the protective object
Face your character behind the object you want to use for cover.
Step 3. Press the "Cover" button
The buttons will vary depending on the GTA 5 platform you're playing on:
- PC - Press the Q key.
- Xbox - Press the button RB.
- PlayStation - Press the button R1.
Step 4. Aim from the shield
By holding down the " Aim " button (right click for computers, or left trigger for consoles), you can aim through the side or top of the shield object.
Release the " Aim " button to return your position to the shield
Step 5. Shoot from behind the shield
By pressing the "Fire" button on the system you're playing (left click for PC, or right trigger for console), your character will fire through the top or side of the protective object without removing the head or body.
By aiming first, your shot will be more accurate. However, it also makes parts of your character's body visible when shooting
Step 6. Press the "Cover" button again
By doing so, your character will leave the protective object behind.
