This wikiHow teaches you how to build a wooden gate in the Minecraft game.

Method 1 of 2: Making a Gate
Step 1. Get 4 wooden planks
Planks can be found in the village or made from a single log.
You can make a gate from any type of wood
Step 2. Open the crafting table
This can be done by right-clicking (on a computer) or pressing the L2 or Z2 (console controller) key on the crafting table.
Step 3. Make some sticks from two wooden planks
How to do it:.
- Place one of the boards in the second box (top middle box).
- Place another board in the fifth square (just below the previous board).
- Drag the resulting stick to inventory (inventory).
Step 4. Place one board in the fifth square and the other board in the eighth square
The fifth square is in the center of the grid. Place the second board directly below it (i.e. the eighth square).
Step 5. Place the sticks in the fourth, seventh, sixth, and ninth squares
By doing so, the two boards will be surrounded by 4 sticks on the left and right.
Step 6. Drag the resulting gate into the inventory
Now you can place the gate as you wish.
Method 2 of 2: Placing the Gate on the Fence
Step 1. Select the part of the fence that you want to install the gate
- You can also mount the gate on a cobblestone wall.
- The gate must be placed on top of a solid block. You can't hover it in the air.
Step 2. Select the gateway in the hotbar
You can find it at the bottom of the screen.
Step 3. Right-click the location you want to use to place the gate
On the console, press the L2 or Z2 key. Now the gate has been installed.
You can also mount the gate on a cobblestone wall
Step 4. Right-click the gate if you want to open and close it
On the console, press the L2 or Z2 key. You can open the gate to the outside or inside.
Tips
- The gates cannot be opened by villagers or knocked down by zombies.
- To allow the chicken to move in and out, place the gate on the slab. Chickens can still get through the bottom of the gate, but monsters won't.
- You can also place the gate on a cobblestone wall.
- The gate must be placed on top of a solid block. You can't hover it in the air.
