Emeralds are the rarest ore in the world of Minecraft, even rarer than diamonds. You can use Emeralds to trade with villagers for cool and useful items. This wikiHow will help you find Emeralds in Minecraft.
Step
Step 1. Head to the extreme hill biome
It is only in this biome that emeralds can be found. Extreme hill biomes are common enough that you don't have to go far.
Step 2. Dig the stairs down to level 11
Don't dig straight down so you don't fall in the lava. Emeralds can be found from levels 4-32, but level 11 is the best. To see the level you are at, press F3 and look at the y-coordinate.
Step 3. Start digging in a straight line, and place a torch for lighting
You can also create "branches" or small passages that branch off from the main tunnel.
Step 4. When you find it, dig around the emerald to make sure there is no lava around it
If there is lava, the excavated emeralds can fall and disappear.
Step 5. Dig the emerald if there is no lava
Take your rewards and head outside the mines or keep looking for emeralds.
If there's no lava, place blocks around the emerald to prevent it from falling
Tips
- If you want, you can look for emeralds in the cave instead of digging the tunnel yourself.
- If you encounter a cave, you have two options. You can search for caves, or mine them in another direction to avoid caves.
- Villagers want to barter commodities for emeralds. Meet with villagers to find out what commodities they want to buy, and make/find/mine those commodities to barter.
- Emeralds can also find chests in the Mob Spawner, Jungle Temple and Desert Temple rooms.
Warning
- Watch the lava. Never dig down and never let your guard down.
- Don't try to steal emeralds from friends. This action will only end badly.
