This wikiHow teaches you how to find slime (a type of monster or mob) in Minecraft. Slimes spawn in swamps and underground caves.
Step
Part 1 of 2: Finding Slime in the Swamp
Step 1. Go to the swamp biome
This biome is characterized by dark grass and trees, vines hanging from trees, and many areas of water. Swamps can usually be found in ravines or as extensions of the forest biome.
Step 2. Find the most flat place
Swamps are usually flatter than most other biomes, and you'll usually need to find a large, flat area within a swamp.
Step 3. Activate your coordinates
You can do this by pressing F3 on a Mac or PC. Once you do that, a bunch of white text will appear on the top left.
You'll need to open the map to see the "Y" coordinates if you're playing the console and PE versions of Minecraft
Step 4. Make sure the Y coordinate for the spawning area is between 50 and 70
When in a swamp area, slimes will appear between the 50th and 70th layers.
For comparison, sea level is in the 65th layer
Step 5. Find a dark place
The lighting level in your selected area should be no more than seven. You can create artificially dark areas by covering parts of the swamp canopy with a dirt ceiling and walls. You can also look for areas that have low light levels.
You can check the exposure level by looking for the "rl" value in the second to last line of text when coordinate display is enabled
Step 6. Make sure the spawning area has at least three blocks of vertical space
To spawn, slime requires two and a half vertical blocks. So maybe you have to clean the leaves which in the end can also increase the level of lighting.
Step 7. Keep yourself at least 24 blocks from the spawning area
Slime will not spawn if a player is within 24 blocks of the spawning area, and this monster will also not spawn if the player is more than 32 blocks away.
Step 8. Wait for the full moon to arrive
Slime most often spawn during the full moon. So maybe you should build a small hut with bunk beds nearby and wait for the full moon.
Slime will never spawn when the new moon
Step 9. Try forcing the slime to spawn
You can create multiple platforms that have a minimum of three blocks of vertical space between each to increase the number of surfaces the slimes can spawn.
While you're at it, make sure all platforms are in the 50 to 70 layer range
Part 2 of 2: Finding Slime Pieces
Step 1. Look for the cave that is below the 40th layer
If you can't force the slimes to spawn in the swamp biome, maybe you can get them underground. Slime spawn in caves in "slime pieces", which are 16 x 16 x 16 block areas.
You have a one in ten chance of finding slime pieces
Step 2. Plug the torch in the cave
When below layer 40, slime can spawn in any light. You can light a torch to make mining easier and prevent other mobs from appearing.
Step 3. Clear space with a size of 16 x 16 x 16
This will form a slice. Slimes won't spawn right away while you're here, but you may be able to force them to spawn by adding platforms.
Step 4. Make four platforms one block high
These platforms should be stacked on top of each other by placing three vertical blocks of space between each platform. This platform can increase the number of areas that can be used as spawning grounds for slimes.
Step 5. Keep yourself at least 24 blocks from the spawning area
Like when in the swamp biome, slime will not spawn if you are within 24 blocks (or less) of the spawning area.
Step 6. Wait for the slime to spawn
If the slime still doesn't show up for a day and night, look for another cave.
Tips
Slimes often spawn in superflat worlds because these worlds are located close to the bottom layer
Warning
- Avoid the mushroom biome because slime can't spawn there at all.
- Finding slime is a trial-and-error process.
