Knowing whether or not you have been blocked by one of your contacts can be quite tricky to do. If you think you've been blocked and want to confirm, you can call the contact several times and listen to the sound that appears when the call ends. However, it should also be understood that if someone has blocked you, and you continue to try to contact them, it is likely that you will be reported for unpleasant behavior.

Method 1 of 2: Knowing If You Have Been Blocked
Step 1. Call the contact suspected of having blocked your number
It's usually hard to tell if someone has blocked your number by sending a text message. So you have to call him.
Step 2. Listen to how the call ended
If the call ends after one ring tone (or half a ring tone in some cases) and you're redirected to voicemail, it's likely that you're blocked or the number you've dialed has been lost.
- You may hear a message that the number you are dialing is out of range, depending on the number operator. In the US this usually applies to carriers AT&T and Sprint. This means that your number has been blocked.
- If the called number answers, of course you are not blocked.
Step 3. Call again to make sure
Sometimes a call will be diverted to voicemail even if the line is not busy and your number is not blocked. Calling again will determine the fate of your call.
If your call still ends after one ringing tone, or even before, and then goes to voicemail, the phone number you dialed is probably out of date or is blocking your number
Step 4. Call the number with the hidden number
If you are in the US or Canada, please dial "*67" before the telephone number. Or, set your phone to hide the number. While practically not everyone will pick up a phone from a secret number, calling this way will ensure the status of the number you're calling:
- If the dial tone sounds normal -- say five or six times -- then the number has blocked your number.
- If the call ends after one ring or less and is diverted to voice mail, the number you dialed is forfeited.
Step 5. Ask a friend to help you dial the number you suspect
If your number is confirmed to be blocked but you want verbal confirmation, ask a friend to call the suspect number and talk to him or her about what happened. Keep in mind that while this may be tempting to do, there is a chance that the relationship between the friend you are asking for help and the owner of the number that is blocking you may be in trouble.
Method 2 of 2: Bypass Block Phone
Step 1. Understand the consequences
If your number is accidentally blocked, chances are the number owner won't be upset after hearing from you. On the other hand, trying to tamper with someone's block who wants to stay away from you can be considered unpleasant. Understand the legality of breaking the block in your area before proceeding.
Step 2. Hide your phone number
If you are in the US or Canada, you can hide the phone number by pressing "*67" before typing the number you are trying to call, your number will appear as a secret number.
Most people won't pick up calls from "Confidential" or "Unknown" numbers because so often long-distance marketers call with this tactic to reach numbers that are on a no-phone list
Step 3. Call the suspect contact number with an instant messaging service
For example, if you and the contact you want to contact both use Facebook, try contacting them with Facebook Messenger. The same concept applies to WhatsApp, Viber, Skype, or any other instant messaging service that they share.
Step 4. Leave a voice message
Even if your contact number won't receive a notification of your call or voicemail, the message will still reach their phone. This avoidance gap can be used if there is important information to be conveyed to them.
Step 5. Try contacting via social media
If you really need to connect with someone who has blocked your number, send emails or messages from various social media accounts. Again, consider the urgency, if you're just annoyed that they blocked your number, it's best not to do anything until the situation between you and them has calmed down a bit.
