You can contact PayPal via phone call or email. Both processes can be done easily if you are logged into your PayPal account from the start. However, you can also stay connected to customer service even when you can't (or don't want to) access your account.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Contacting PayPal via Phone Call
Step 1. Sign in to your PayPal account
Visit the PayPal login page and enter the account username and password. Press the “Log In” button to log into the account and be directed to the “Account Summary” page.
If you have a PayPal account, it is highly recommended that you sign in to your account first because PayPal can provide you with assistance more quickly. However, you can still contact PayPal via phone call if you're not logged into your account or don't have an account
Step 2. Visit the “Contact” page
Scroll down the “Account Summary” page and look for the “Contact” link at the bottom of the page. Clicking on the link will take you to the PayPal help center page or Help Center.
Note that a “Contact” link appears at the bottom of any page on the PayPal website so you can still access the user help center even if you didn't start from the “Account Summary” page
Step 3. Click the “Call Us” link
Look for the “Call Us” link at the top of the “Help Center” main page. Click this link to be directed to the telephone inquiry help page.
You will be prompted to sign in to your account at this stage if you haven't already. Log in by clicking the " Log In " button, or scroll to the " Contact Us as a Guest " section and click " Help Center as a Guest"
Step 4. Get a one-time passcode
You can see the phrase " One-time passcode " on the telephone inquiry guide page. Below that, there are numbers surrounded by an orange frame. This number is your personal passcode.
- Each code is unique and temporary. This code will expire after 60 minutes. If you are unable to contact PayPal before this time limit, you will need to repeat the process and obtain a new code before trying to call PayPal back.
- Using a passcode helps make the contact process easier, and get the answers you need faster. When you use PayPal as a guest, you will not receive a personal passcode. Just move on to the next step and contact PayPal's help center service without a passcode.
Step 5. Call the PayPal phone number
Call the PayPal Help Center (PayPal Help Center) at +1-888-221-1161. When prompted, enter a single-use passcode (if applicable) and follow the next prompts until you are directed to the appropriate operator or answer record.
- If you live outside the United States and need to call PayPal, call +1-402-935-2050.
- Monday through Friday, you can contact PayPal between 4 a.m. and 10 p.m. Pacific time (7 p.m. to 1 p.m. EST). On Saturdays or Sundays, you can call PayPal between 6am and 8pm Pacific time (9pm to 11pm CST). However, this schedule is subject to change on certain holidays.
Method 2 of 3: Contacting PayPal via Email by Accessing Account
Step 1. Sign in to your PayPal account
Visit the PayPal login page. Enter the account username and password, then click the “Log In” button to access the account and open the “Account Summary” page.
It is highly recommended that you log into your account as much as possible. If you don't have a PayPal account or are having trouble accessing your account, read the next method in this article (Contacting PayPal by Email Without Accessing an Account) to find out how to contact PayPal via email without logging into your account
Step 2. Go to the “Contact” page
Look for the “Contact” link at the bottom of the “Account Summary” page. Click the link to access the PayPal help center or Help Center.
Keep in mind that you can find a “Contact” link at the bottom of every page on the PayPal website, even if you are not currently on the “Account Summary” page
Step 3. Click the “Email Us” link
Look for the " Email Us " link at the top of the help center page. Click the link to access the website's contact form.
You will be prompted to sign in to your account at this stage if you haven't already
Step 4. Select a topic and subtopic
You will see two drop-down boxes on the "Email Us" page. Select a primary topic from the "Choose a topic" box, then specify a secondary subtopic from the "Choose a sub-topic" box.
- Subtopics are discussions that are more specific than the main topics. In other words, you need to select the main topic first before the form displays a list of subtopics, and the available subtopics will differ from topic to topic.
-
Some of the topics offered include:
- “Bank Account/Credit Card” (bank account/credit card)
- “PayPal Credit” (PayPal Credit)
- “Business Solutions” (business solutions)
- “Disputes” (lawsuits/disputes)
- “My Account” (my account)
- “Negative Balance/Limitations” (negative balance/limit)
- "PayPal Extras MasterCard"
- “PayPal Debit Card” (PayPal debit card)
- “Products and Features” (PayPal products and features)
- “Report Fraud/Prohibit Use” (report of fraud or illicit use)
- “Sending/Receiving Money” (sending/receiving of funds)
- “Student Accounts” (student accounts)
- ” PayPal MyCash(C) Card” (PayPal MyCash card)
- “Refund/Cancel a Payment” (refund/cancellation of payment)
- “Privacy Policy” (privacy policy)
Step 5. Type in a message
After selecting a topic and subtopic, a message text field will be displayed. Click the field and enter a question, complaint, or comment with specific details.
Provide as much information as possible in the main body of the message. It will be easier for the help center service staff to solve the problem if you explain it in detail
Step 6. Click the "Send" button
Review the topics, subtopics, and messages that were typed. If everything is correct, press the " Send " button at the bottom of the message field to send the message.
A customer service representative from PayPal will reply to your message in no time (usually within 1-2 business days). A reply will be sent to the email address associated with your PayPal account
Method 3 of 3: Contacting PayPal via Email Without Accessing Account
Step 1. Visit the Help Center page
Go to the PayPal website and directly access the Help Center page by clicking the " Contact " link at the bottom of any page on the site.
Step 2. Click the “Email Us” link
Look for the “Email Us” link at the top of the “Help Center” main page. Click this link to access the appropriate page.
You will be asked to sign in to your account. If possible, this step is highly recommended. If you can't sign in to your account, move on to the next step
Step 3. Open the guest contact form
If you can't access your PayPal account or want to continue the process as a guest only, click the " Having problems logging in? " link under the " Contact Us As a Guest " heading.
- While you technically need to use the link only if you can't access your account, you can still try it if you don't have an account yet.
- Keep in mind that you may also see a " contact Help Center as a guest " link. However, if you click on the link, the telephone number of the service center will be displayed and you will not be directed to the email form.
Step 4. Enter the contact information
You will need to enter your first name, last name and email address in the first three fields of the " Problems logging in? " contact form.
If you have a PayPal account, but can't access it, use the name and email address associated with the account when filling out the form
Step 5. Type in a message
After entering your contact information, click the "Message" text field and type in your complete question or complaint.
Provide as much detail as possible when filling out the form so PayPal can deal with your issue quickly and efficiently
Step 6. Click the “Send” button
Make sure the information entered is correct, then click the " Send " button at the bottom of the contact form to send the message.
- A PayPal customer service representative will reply to your message to the email address provided, usually within 1-2 business days.
- Keep in mind that PayPal will only share account information with the account owner and needs to verify that you are the owner of the account before providing the information.
Tips
- If you receive a suspicious email from a source claiming to be PayPal, forward the email to “ [email protected]" The help center service or Help Center will review the content of the message and tell you whether the message is genuine or a hoax.
- It's a good idea to check the “Frequently Asked Questions” section of the help center page for the latest information articles before emailing or contacting PayPal, especially when you have general questions. That way, you can get answers more quickly.
