Google Chrome comes with several icons that can be changed via Google Chrome's “Properties” menu (or “Get Info” menu on a Mac). If you don't like the icon choices available, you can download and install new icons from the internet.

Method 1 of 2: Using the “Properties” Menu
Step 1. Open the “Start” menu
If your desktop already has a Google Chrome icon, you can access it directly from the desktop window
Step 2. Type “Google Chrome” into the search bar
Chrome will appear in the search results window and appear as a desktop application (“Desktop App”).
Step 3. Right-click the “Google Chrome” option and select “Open file location”
You will then be taken to the Google Chrome installation directory (eg “Documents” folder).
Step 4. Right-click the Google Chrome icon, then select “Properties”
The “Properties” menu will be displayed afterwards.
Step 5. Select “Change Icon” at the bottom of the “Properties” menu
After that, you can choose an icon from several built-in options included in the Chrome installation process.
Step 6. Select the new icon
Step 7. Click “Apply”, then select “OK”
Changes will be saved afterwards. Now you get the new Chrome icon!
If the Chrome icon has been added to the workbar or “Start” menu before, you will need to remove the icon, then re-add the icon using the original application files that were in the Chrome directory before the new icon was displayed
Method 2 of 2: Installing New Icons
Step 1. Open the browser you want to use
To install a new icon, you must first download an icon file (.ico) from the internet.
Step 2. Type “Google Chrome alternative icon” into your browser
A list of sites that offer alternative Chrome icons will appear. Design Shack and Icon Archive are quality options that offer free icons that you can easily download.
You don't have to pay or provide any personal information to get the available icons
Step 3. Go to the icon site and browse through the options
Keep in mind that you can follow these steps as many times as you want so feel free to experiment with different icons.
Step 4. Click the icon you want to download
You will be taken to the icon download preferences page after that.
Step 5. Adjust preferences
Some sites allow you to choose the size of the icon or apply a different color scheme to the icon.
Step 6. Select “ICO” before downloading the icon
Most sites offer the option of downloading the icon as a-p.webp
Step 7. Download the icon
Step 8. Place the icon in a “safe” directory
For example, you can save it in the “Pictures” folder or the Google Chrome installation folder.
If you save an icon in an “unsafe” place and accidentally delete it, the Chrome icon will revert to its original icon
Step 9. If you are using a Mac computer, copy the icon file
Select the icon image, hold down Command, and press the C key.
Step 10. Open the “Start” menu
On a Mac computer, open a Finder window
Step 11. Type “Google Chrome” into the search bar
Chrome will appear in the search window. On a PC, Chrome appears as a desktop application (“Desktop App”).
Step 12. Right click “Google Chrome” and select “Open file location”
After that, you will be taken to the Google Chrome installation directory (e.g. “Documents” folder).
On a Mac computer, click “Get Info”
Step 13. Right-click the Google Chrome icon, then select “Properties”
The “Properties” menu will be displayed afterwards.
On a Mac, click the image at the top of the “Get Info” window, then paste the copied icon using the keyboard shortcut Command + V. Now the Chrome icon has been successfully changed
Step 14. Select “Change Icon” at the bottom of the “Properties” menu
After that, you can choose an icon from several built-in options included in the Chrome installation process.
Step 15. Click “Browse”
With this option, you can select the icon file from your computer.
Step 16. Select the icon file that was previously downloaded
Open the directory you selected as the icon storage folder.
Step 17. Click “Apply”, then select “OK”
Changes will be saved. Now you successfully have a new icon for Chrome!
