This wikiHow teaches you how to change the Google Chrome browser background. If Google Chrome has been updated (update), you can upload (upload) images or select images provided by Google in the Settings menu (Settings). You can access the Settings menu via the new tab page. You can also add a theme to Google Chrome in the Settings menu.

Method 1 of 2: Using the New Tab Page
Step 1. Open
Google Chrome.
Double-click the red, yellow, green, and blue ball-shaped Chrome app icon.
If you haven't upgraded Chrome to the latest version, click the button ⋮ in the upper right of the window, select Options Help (Help), and click options About Google Chrome (About Google Chrome). After that, click on options Google Chrome Updates and click options Relaunch (Relaunch) when prompted before continuing.
Step 2. Open a new tab if needed
If Google Chrome doesn't open a new tab page, click the button ＋ in the top right of the Chrome window to open a new, empty tab.
Step 3. Click the "Settings" button
It's at the bottom right of the page. Clicking on it will open a pop-up menu.
Step 4. Click the Upload an image option
This option is in the pop-up menu. After that, a File Explorer (for Windows) or Finder (for Mac) window will appear on the screen.
You can also click options Chrome Backgrounds (Chrome backgrounds) in the pop-up menu if you want to use the official Chrome background image.
Step 5. Select an image
Open the folder where the image you want to upload is saved. After that, click the photo you want to use.
When using the menu Chrome Backgrounds, you just need to click on the image you want to use.
Step 6. Click the Open button
It's at the bottom of the window. Clicking on it will add the image to the new tab page background.
If you use the image available in the menu Chrome Backgrounds, click button Finished (Done) at the bottom of the window.
Method 2 of 2: Using Themes
Step 1. Open
Google Chrome.
Double-click the red, yellow, green, and blue ball-shaped Chrome app icon.
Step 2. Click the button
It's in the upper-right side of the Chrome window. After that, a drop-down menu will appear on the screen.
Step 3. Click the Settings option
This option is in the drop-down menu. Clicking on it will open the Settings page.
Step 4. Scroll down and click on Theme option
This option is at the top of the list of "Appearance" options.
Step 5. Choose a theme background
Find the desired theme in the list of available themes on the Chrome Webstore page. After that, click on the theme name to select it.
Step 6. Click the Add to Chrome button
It's blue and it's at the top of the theme page. Clicking the button will install the theme on Chrome. Depending on the selected theme, you may see the color of the top of the Chrome window change to the selected background color.
