Generally, swimming pools at home are equipped with underwater lighting. Just like any other light, pool bulbs can wear out and must be replaced. You don't have to reduce the water in the pool to replace the lights. Below are the steps you can follow to replace the pool light.

Step 1. Turn off all pool lighting
Turn off the power through the power box. Some swimming pools have their own fuse box
Step 2. Try turning on the pool lights to make sure the electricity is completely cut off
- This step is not always reliable. If the lamp burns, there is or is no electricity, the lamp will not turn on.
- If the pool only has one light, use the pump as an indicator. Turn off the power, then try starting the pump. If the pump does not start, it means that the power supply has been cut off.
Step 3. Remove the screw on the top of the lamp housing
It is possible that the screws used are minus screws, but generally the screws used are plus screws. So, prepare a screwdriver plus
Step 4. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry the lamp holder out of the holder case
Generally, lamp cases have a metal lip underneath. Loosen using a flat-head screwdriver
Step 5. Pull the lamp holder out of the water and place it on the edge of the pool
The cable connecting the lamp holder and holder should be long enough that you can pull and lift the lamp holder to the surface
Step 6. Remove or loosen the lens from the lamp housing
Older swimming pools usually have screws that must be removed before you can remove the lens. New model swimming pools generally have a lip that must be loosened
Step 7. Replace the old bulb with a new bulb
Step 8. Turn on the power so you can make sure the light is on
Just turn it on for a while to make sure the light is on. One or two seconds is enough
Step 9. Turn off the power
Step 10. Attach the lens and reassemble the lamp housing
Step 11. Install all the screws and tighten the entire lip
Step 12. Check for leaks by submerging the lamp holder in water for a few minutes before plugging it back into the lamp holder
Step 13. Insert the lamp housing into the holder and screw the screw on the top of the holder
Step 14. Turn on the power and lights to make sure the lights are working properly
Tips
- Use a towel to cover the area where you will place the lampshade lens so that the lens does not break or damage.
- You better ask someone to help you.
Warning
- After you replace the bulb, make sure it doesn't hit or fall. The filaments in the bulb are very brittle and break easily.
- Do not attach the lens cap when you are inspecting a new bulb. When the lens is not attached, the hot air will evaporate so that the lens does not crack.
- Do not replace the lamp until you are absolutely sure the power has been cut off.
- If the lens cap has a metal lip, make sure you don't damage the waterproof gasket when loosening the lens.
