This article will teach you how to use a Windows or Mac computer to print documents on both sides of paper. If the printer (printer) does not support two-sided printing of paper, you can still do it manually.

Method 1 of 3: Using a PC
Step 1. Click the File label
This label is usually in the upper-left side of the window.
- If the document you want to print has not been opened, do so first.
- If you don't find the label File, try to find the Ctrl key on your computer keyboard.
Step 2. Click Print
Knob Print usually in the drop down menu below File, although it may appear as an option on the page if File open a separate window.
If you don't find the label File, try Ctrl and P on the keyboard at the same time.
Step 3. Click the two-sided print option
Click the current printing option (for example Single Sided) and select the double-sided option in the drop-down menu.
- This option page can also be found under " Page Layout " or " Duplex Printing ".
- In Microsoft Word, you usually just click the button Print One Sided to display two-sided print options.
Step 4. Make sure your computer is connected to the printer
You can see the name of the selected printer under the " Printer " heading near the top of the window.
- If needed, first connect the printer cable to your computer's USB port.
- To change the selected printer, click on the printer name and select the printer you want to use from the drop-down menu.
Step 5. Click Print
It's at the bottom of the window, but in Microsoft Word it's at the top of the window. Click Print to print your document.
Method 2 of 3: Using a Mac
Step 1. Click File
This menu is in the upper-left side of the menu bar at the top of the screen.
- If the document you want to print has not been opened, do so first.
- If you don't find the option File, try pressing the Command key on your Mac keyboard.
Step 2. Click Print
This option is in the dropdown menu File. Click this option to open the Print window.
If you can't find the menu File, try pressing Command and P on your keyboard at the same time.
Step 3. Click the Copies & Pages bar
It's near the top of the window.
If you are printing from the internet, skip this step and move on to the next section
Step 4. Click Layout
It's in the middle of the drop-down menu.
Step 5. Find the two-sided printing option
These options will vary depending on the document that is opened.
- For example, when using Safari, you need to check the " Two-Sided " box.
- If you're using Word, click the box next to " Two-Sided " to open a drop-down menu. Usually, you will choose Long-Edge Binding from this drop down menu.
Step 6. Make sure the computer is connected to the printer
You can see the name of the currently selected printer under the " Printer " heading at the top of the window.
To change the selected printer, click on its name and select the desired printer from the drop-down menu
Step 7. Click Print
It's at the bottom of the window. Your document will be printed in a two-sided format.
Method 3 of 3: Manually Double-Sided Printing
Step 1. Make a small mark on the top of the printing paper
The mark should be on the paper side up, near the short edge facing the printer.
Step 2. Click File, then click Print.
Usually, options File is in the upper-left corner of the screen, and Print is in the drop-down menu. Click to open the Print window.
- If you haven't opened the document you want to print, do so first.
- You can also press Command+P (Mac) or Ctrl+P (PC) to open the Print window.
Step 3. Find the “Page Range” section
This section will allow you to select your pages that you want to print.
You may be able to click the " Pages " circle to select a Page Range before continuing
Step 4. Type in even or odd numbers
This number will determine which pages of the document are printed during the first round.
For example: if your document has 10 pages, please type 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 or 2, 4, 6, 8, 10
Step 5. Make sure your printer is connected
You can see the name of the currently selected printer under the " Printer " heading at the top of the window.
To change the selected printer, click on its name and select the printer you want to use in the drop-down menu
Step 6. Click Print
This way, you will only print even or odd pages of your document.
Step 7. Look at the pencil marks to determine which side to print on
This will determine how you load paper into the printer:
- Print and pencil marks face down: Place the printed side of the paper face down with the top edge of the paper facing the printer.
- Prints and pencil marks are on opposite sides: Place the printed side of the paper face up with the top edge of the paper facing the printer.
Step 8. Put the printed page back into the printer
Adjust with pencil marks on paper.
Step 9. Reopen the Print window
The quickest way to do this is to press Command+P (Mac) or Ctrl+P (Windows).
Step 10. Type in a different page range
If you previously printed even pages, now you are typing odd numbers.
Step 11. Click Print
As long as your pages are lined up correctly, the printer will print blank pages of paper.
