Do you want to change the home page on your Android device's web browser? Depending on the application you are using, there are several options available to you. You can set up a traditional home page in Android's default browser, but you can't do it inside Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. You can still get some of the same uses from these apps or even more in certain cases. See Step 1 below to learn how.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Changing Your Default Browser Homepage
Step 1. Open a browser
Tap the browser icon on the home screen or app drawer. Usually the browser is depicted with a globe icon and labeled "Internet" or "Browser".
If your phone is preinstalled with Chrome, take a look at the Tips section
Step 2. Open the menu
You can press the Menu button on your device or tap the Menu icon in the upper-right corner of the browser window.
Step 3. Tap Settings
Doing so will open a new screen. Within that screen, you can customize various aspects of the browser application.
Step 4. Tap on General
Some versions of the Android browser have a General section. Tap this section to access the home page settings. If you don't have a "General" option, continue to the next step.
Step 5. Tap on "Set home page"
By tapping on it, a text field will open, in which you can type in the address of the page you want to open when a new browser is opened.
- If you want to make the current page your home page, tap "Use current page".
- Make sure that you typed in the address correctly or the site will not load.
Step 6. Tap OK to save changes
Your new home page has been set and will open when the browser is restarted. Since Android supports multitasking, the page you are currently viewing may still appear the next time you open your browser.
Method 2 of 2: Changing Firefox Home Page on Android
Step 1. Open Firefox
You can't set the traditional home page in the Firefox app, but you can customize options to display a list of the sites you visit most often and the sites listed in your bookmarks. This way, you can select the sites you want to load quickly.
Step 2. Open a new tab
If you've already opened a specific website, open a new tab to apply the changes. Tap the Tabs icon at the top of the window, then tap the "+" icon. The new tab will have several options outlined below the address bar, and you can move to other options by swiping left or right on the screen. Here are the names of the available options: Top Sites, History, Bookmarks, and Reading List.
Step 3. Add sites into the Top Sites screen
Click the "+" icon in the empty box to add a site. A new window will appear with some of the sites you visit most often as well as a search box where you can enter the site name manually.
You can change a site already in the Top Sites screen by long-pressing the box and then selecting Edit from the menu
Step 4. Add the site to the Bookmarks list
As you browse the internet using Firefox, you can add any visited site to the Bookmarks list. This way, you can access the sites stored in the list more quickly.
- To save a site into Bookmarks, open the site with the Firefox browser and tap the Menu button in the upper right corner. Tap the empty star icon (☆) to add the site to the Bookmarks list.
- Fill in the bookmarks list with your favorite sites so you can easily select them later.
Step 5. Set Top Sites or Bookmarks as home page
Now that you've filled those screens with multiple sites, you can set either of the two options to appear as the main page when a new tab is opened or a new browser program is opened.
- Tap the Menu button, then select Settings. Tap Customize, then tap Home. Select the tabs you want to appear by tapping on them and selecting "Set as default".
- A home page like this might be more useful than a single home page because you have more options with just one more tap.
