This wikiHow teaches you how to transmit a Wi-Fi connection on a Windows computer to a smartphone (smartphone). You can do this on any computer that has a Wi-Fi adapter enabled for network broadcasting. This means that you will not be able to use multiple desktop computers to perform this process. Keep in mind that this process is not the same as using smartphone data as a Wi-Fi network on a computer. If the Wi-Fi adapter on your computer can't be used to create a hotspot, use Connectify to broadcast Wi-Fi.

Method 1 of 2: Using Settings in Windows 10
Step 1. Go to Start
Do this by clicking on the Windows logo in the lower-left corner.
Step 2. Open Settings
Click the gear-shaped Settings icon at the bottom left of the Start menu. The Settings window will open.
Step 3. Click Network & Internet
It's a globe-shaped icon in the middle of the Settings window.
Step 4. Click Mobile hotspot
This tab is located on the left side of the window.
Step 5. Click the "Mobile hotspot" button
in gray at the top of the page.
By clicking on it, the button will be active
which indicates that the computer is now transmitting an internet connection.
Step 6. Check the network name and password
In the center of the page are the " Network name " and " Network password " headings to set a name and password for your mobile hotspot.
The network name must be the computer name, and the password is the network password you normally use
Step 7. Connect the smartphone to the Wi-Fi network
Once you have a Wi-Fi hotspot set up on your computer, you can now connect to it via the Wi-Fi menu on your smartphone. How to do it:

iPhone - Open Settings
Iphonesettingsappicon on iPhone, tap Wi-Fi, tap the name of the hotspot you are emitting, type in the password, then tap Join.
- Android - Swipe down from the top of the screen, press the Wi-Fi icon for a moment, tap the name of the emitted hotspot, type in the password, then tap JOIN or CONNECT.
Method 2 of 2: Using Connectify
Step 1. Make sure you have installed the wireless adapter
Do the following to check whether your computer has a built-in Wi-Fi adapter or not:

Go to Start
Windowsstart - Type command prompt, then click Command Prompt.
- Type netsh wlan show drivers, then press Enter.
- Wait until the adapter information is displayed. If it says "The Wireless AutoConfig Service is not running", it means that the computer has not installed a wireless adapter.
Step 2. Download the Connectify installer file
Connectify is a free program that lets you broadcast your computer's Wi-Fi over short distances:
- Run a web browser on your computer and visit
- Click button Download purple.
- Click Continue to Download.
Step 3. Install Connectify
Once the Connectify installer file has been downloaded, you can install it by double-clicking the file, and doing the following:
- Click Yes when requested.
- Click I Agree.
- Click agree.
- Check the "Reboot now" box.
- Click Finish.
Step 4. Wait for the computer to finish restarting
Continue the process when the computer has finished restarting.
Step 5. Run Connectify if necessary
Double-click the "Connectify Hotspot 2018" icon on the computer desktop.
Skip this step when the Connectify window has opened automatically
Step 6. Click Try it Out
It's a purple button at the bottom of the Connectify window.
Step 7. Click the Wi-Fi Hotspot tab at the top of the Connectify window
Step 8. Change the password if necessary
In the " Password " text box, delete the existing text, then type the password you want to use for the network.
If you're using the free version of Connectify, you can't change the network name
Step 9. Click on Start Hotspot at the bottom of the window
Step 10. Wait until the computer hotspot starts up
Continue the process if Connectify has notified that the hotspot is active.
Step 11. Connect the smartphone to the Wi-Fi network
If you have a Wi-Fi hotspot set up on your computer, you can now connect to it via the Wi-Fi menu on your smartphone. How to do it:
