You can change a known password via the Skype website, or reset a forgotten password from the Skype website and mobile app. Keep in mind that the Skype account password is the same as the Microsoft account password. Therefore, changing the Skype account password will also change the linked Microsoft account password.

Method 1 of 3: Changing Your Still Known Skype Account Password
Step 1. Go to the Skype account management page (“Account Management”)
Visit https://secure.skype.com/portal/overview via your computer's web browser. The account management page will be displayed if you are already signed in to your Microsoft account.
- If not, enter your email address and password when prompted.
- You cannot change your Skype account password through the Skype mobile app.
Step 2. Scroll down and click Change password
This option is under the " Settings and preferences " heading on the right side of the page.
Step 3. Enter the password
When prompted, click the "Enter password" field, then type in the password used to log into the account.
If you are asked to verify your identity, select a verification method, enter the missing information, and get a verification code from your email address or mobile phone, then enter the code in the fields provided. You can skip the next step
Step 4. Click Sign in
It's below the text field. After that, you will be logged into your account and a password change form will be displayed.
Step 5. Enter the current active password
In the top text field on the page, type the password you previously typed to log into your account.
Step 6. Enter the new password twice
Type the desired new password into the " New password " field, then re-enter the password entry in the " Reenter password " field below it.
Step 7. Click Save
It's a blue button at the bottom of the page. Your Skype account password will be updated.
Method 2 of 3: Resetting Forgot Skype Account Password on Desktop Computer
Step 1. Open Skype
Click or double-click the Skype icon, which looks like a white “S” on a blue background. The Skype login page will be displayed.
Step 2. Enter your email address
Type the email address you use to sign in to your Skype account into the text field in the middle of the page.
Step 3. Click Next

Step 4. Click Forgot my password
This link is below the password field. A password reset form will be displayed.

In the text field at the bottom of the page, type the characters you see in the middle of the page.
You can click the button " New ” next to the character box to reload a new random character.

Click the email address that appears on the page.
If your phone number is available, you can choose that number instead of your email address so Skype can send you a confirmation code via text message

Type your username and email address into the field in the middle of the page. If you want to use a phone number, enter the last four digits of your phone number.

It's below the text field. A verification code will be sent to your email address (or phone number).

To get a verification code, follow these steps:
- Email - Open the recovery email account inbox, click the message titled " Microsoft account password reset ", and review the code after the " Here is your code " text in the message.
- Mobile - Open the messaging app on your phone, select a message from Microsoft, and review the code included in the message.
Step 11. Enter the code
Type the code you got from your email or phone into the text field in the middle of the page.

Type the desired new password into the " New password " field, then re-enter the same entry in the " Reenter password " field below it.

Method 3 of 3: Reset Forgotten Skype Password on Skype Mobile App
Step 1. Open Skype
Tap the Skype app icon, which looks like a white “S” on a blue background. The Skype login page will appear after that.

Step 3. Enter your Skype email address
