This wikiHow teaches you how to log into your WeChat account via a computer application or browser on your computer. You need a mobile device to log in to your WeChat account.

Method 1 of 3: Using Your Browser
Step 1. Open WeChat on the mobile device
By following these steps, you can log into your WeChat account on your computer without having to download a separate app. Sign in to your WeChat account on your phone or tablet if you haven't already.
Step 2. Tap the + button
It's in the upper-right corner of the WeChat screen.
Step 3. Tap the Scan QR Code option
This option will open the WeChat code scanner.
Step 4. Open the https://web.wechat.com website on your computer
You can use any browser, such as Safari or Chrome, to open this website. After that, a large QR code will appear on the screen.
Step 5. Scan the QR code that appears on the screen with your phone or tablet
When the QR scanner app installed on the mobile device has scanned the code, your profile photo will appear on the screen.
Step 6. Tap the Log In button on your phone or tablet
After that, you will see the WeChat home screen in your browser.
- As long as you use WeChat on your computer, notifications on your mobile device will be disabled.
- To log out of the WeChat account on the computer, click the button ☰ which is at the top left of the column and then select Log Out.
Method 2 of 3: Using WeChat for Windows
Step 1. Open the website https://www.wechat.com/en/ in your browser
This method will help you download the WeChat app to your Windows-based computer. To use this method, you will need an Android phone, iPhone, or iPad tablet.
Step 2. Click the Windows icon loaded on the monitor icon
This icon is the second white icon from the left in the center of the screen.
Make sure you don't click on the first Windows icon (which doesn't appear on the monitor icon) as it will take you to a page where you can download WeChat for Windows mobile devices
Step 3. Click the Download button
This green button is on the left side of the screen.
Step 4. Select a directory (folder) and click Save
This will download the WeChat installer file to the selected directory.
Step 5. Open the WeChat installer file
Once the WeChat installer file has finished downloading, you'll see a link to the installer file appear at the bottom of your browser window. Click the link if you see it. Otherwise, go to the directory where you saved the file (usually the Downloads directory) and then double-click the WeChat installer file to open it.
Step 6. Click the Yes button to install WeChat on the computer
Step 7. Click the Install WeChat button
After that, WeChat will be installed on the computer. Once WeChat is finished installing, you will see a confirmation message and a green button that says “Run.”
Step 8. Click the Run button
A QR code will appear on the screen along with the message “Log in using Scan QR Code.”
Step 9. Open WeChat on the mobile device
You can use any phone or tablet that has WeChat. Make sure you are logged into your WeChat account on your mobile device before proceeding.
Step 10. Tap the + button on your mobile. It's at the top right of the WeChat screen
Step 11. Tap the Scan QR Code option on the mobile device
This will open the WeChat code scanner.
Step 12. Scan the QR code with your mobile device
When the QR scanner app installed on the mobile device has scanned the code, your profile photo will appear on the screen.
Step 13. Tap the Enter button on the mobile device
After that, you will see a message welcoming you on your computer screen as well as the WeChat home screen.
- As long as you use WeChat on your computer, notifications on your mobile device will be disabled.
- To log back into your WeChat account, you just need to click on the option WeChat in the Windows menu.
- To log out of your WeChat account on your computer, click ☰ located at the bottom left of the WeChat screen, select an option Settings, and click the button Log Out.
Method 3 of 3: Using WeChat for macOS
Step 1. Open the website https://www.wechat.com/en/ in your browser
This method will help you download the WeChat app to Mac. To use this method, you will need an Android phone, iPhone, or iPad tablet.
Step 2. Click the macOS icon
It's the third icon from the left near the center of the screen. This icon is shaped like a monitor with the words “macOS” on it.
Step 3. Click the Download on the Mac App Store button
This will open the WeChat home page in the App Store.
Step 4. Download WeChat to Mac
Click button GET and then select button INSTALL to download this app. Once the file has been downloaded, WeChat will be installed in the Applications directory.
You may have to sign in to your Apple ID account before you can download WeChat
Step 5. Open WeChat
You can find this application in the Applications directory. To access this directory, go to Finder (the smiling Mac icon in the Dock), click the menu Go, and select Applications.
Step 6. Open WeChat on the mobile device
You can use any phone or tablet that has WeChat. Make sure you are logged into your WeChat account on your mobile device before proceeding.
