Traffic is one of the most important parameters to measure the success of your blog. The more people who visit your blog, the more people will read and enjoy your ideas and content. If you want to have a blog that is liked by the internet community, then try some ways to increase your blog traffic. You can start by creating quality content that attracts new readers every day.
Step
Part 1 of 2: Optimizing Content
Step 1. Choose a title or blog name that is attractive and clear
The title of your blog is one of the first things readers will see and one of the factors that search engines use to determine the category of your blog. The title of the blog should be able to make the reader immediately know what the contents of your blog are. This title should be easy to remember, not too long, and not too similar to the name of another blog or website.
Also keep this in mind when you choose a domain name. A blog or domain name that has a difficult spelling will distract people, and make your blog even more difficult to remember
Step 2. Focus on the design
One of the first things that are immediately visible when someone visits your blog is of course their appearance. And while there's a saying that you can't judge a book by its cover, it doesn't apply to a blog. If you want people to stay and read your blog for a long time, you have to attract their attention with an attractive blog design. Once they are interested in the appearance of your blog, then they will start looking around and looking for your content.
- Create a header or title logo that matches the theme and content of your blog. A good, well-designed header will give a clear picture of your blog, and may even make them want to look around longer.
- Make sure you only use at least three different colors. Too many colors will make your blog look tacky and distract readers while viewing or reading content. Choose at least one or two neutral colors, then a lighter or bolder color to complement.
- If you can, create a logo or thumbnail to represent your blog. Having a distinctive logo will make your blog memorable, and help others get to know you and/or your blog when they see your logo on the internet.
Step 3. Tidy up your content
If you have great design and content, you have to make sure that you organize them neatly. If readers have trouble finding what they are looking for, then they will be lazy to revisit your blog or recommend your blog to others. Create a navigation bar at the top of the page or in a column on the side, as well as links to popular and/or best articles. Also, create a tag system so that readers can search for content based on the tags you post.
- If you are proficient in programming, add a search box on your blog. This will allow your readers to search for content within the blog without having to scroll or scroll through pages and titles to find the content they want.
- Create categories in your navigation bar, with each category having a subcategory. This will make the process of navigating within your blog easier.
Step 4. Determine the focus of your target audience
You definitely want your blog to be read by everyone. However, eventually your blog will have a specific number of readers. Check out popular blogs that are similar to the blogs you create or want to create, and follow how these blogs attract the attention of their readers through the content they create. By creating content that is specific and aimed at certain readers (rather than content that is too general), your target audience will become loyal readers or frequent visitors to your blog and willing to share your blog content.
- If you want to create a fashion or beauty blog, make sure the appearance or design of your blog clearly shows the theme.
- If you cover a broad topic on your blog, try writing several posts to get more detailed content on each part of your topic.
Step 5. Add an interesting image
Most people are visual and prefer to read articles or blog posts that have images in them. If you are a photographer or graphic designer, use your skills to prepare images that match each piece of content you create. If you are not very artistic, use images from the internet to post in your blog articles, of course by citing the source of your image or getting permission.
- If you're using an image of your own, add a small watermark to your image (in the form of a blog name, blog logo, or whatever you like). That way, if someone uses and shares this image, people will see where it came from, and may want to visit the source (i.e. your blog).
- Write the rules for sharing images on your blog if you use your own images, as long as you include the source that goes back to your blog article/homepage.
Step 6. Improve the quality of your writing
Now that you can attract the attention of visitors with your blog, now you have to provide good content so that they can read and come back later. Generally, blogs should be written in a light tone and use easy-to-understand vocabulary (unless the content deals with specifics such as academic material). Improve search engine optimization (SEO) on your blog by using words that people often search for in your blogs and posts. With good SEO, your blog will be at the top of the search engines more easily thereby making more and more people visit your blog.
- Always check your writing, both grammatically and spelling.
- Avoid writing paragraphs and sentences that are too long. Readers will find it difficult to understand too much writing. So, break up your writing into shorter sections, sentences, and paragraphs.
- Use a distinctive tone in your writing. Readers tend to like people who have an impressive and creative writing style.
Step 7. Don't overwhelm your readers
When you have plenty of inspiration and ideas to write about, you can easily create too long content that will overwhelm readers. If you have a lot of ideas, break them down into short articles. Also, avoid using too many ads, images, and links in the margins of your blog or articles.
- Keep in mind that the longer it takes for a page to load, the worse it will rank in search engines. Because, it will be better if you keep the content short.
- The term "little has a lot of impact" is very applicable when blogging.
Step 8. Choose content that stays relevant for a long time
This is a tricky one and it really depends on the theme of your blog, but if you focus on creating content that is not popular at one time, you can get more readers in the long run. If you create an article of short relevance (for example, about a temporary trend), include a link to that article in other articles that are related but relevant in the long term. This way, you can almost guarantee a consistent increase in readership, especially if your blog is popular enough from the start. Creating content that's popular at the time will give you a huge jump in readership, but after a few weeks the readership will drop if you can't provide them with other content they like.
- Writing about what's hot is worth writing, but if you want consistent traffic, don't rely too much on content like that.
- This should be noted in blogs that cover topics that depend on the latest trends, such as fashion, beauty, technology, and popular culture.
Step 9. Create internal links
If you already have a lot of content on your blog, feel free to link to your old content in related new content. Readers who like your content will search and look deeper into your blog via these links, and will stay longer on your blog browsing if you have content that links to one another. Insert these links into your content in a natural position and style by turning the sentences in your content into links to other content that doesn't interfere with your existing content.
Step 10. Create content regularly
If you have great content but only once a month, even the most loyal readers will be lazy to wait and forget about your blog. Set a regular schedule so you can consistently deliver new content. Remember, the more content you have, the more readers you can have.
Don't stop creating content even if you don't have quality content. If you really need a little more time to write better content, then use that time
Part 2 of 2: Attract More Readers
Step 1. Use social media to promote your blog
One of the most effective ways to increase blog readership (outside your circle of friends and family) is to promote on social media. Although managing multiple social media accounts is difficult, if you can manage just a few accounts, then you can increase your readership. You can use the following social media:
- Google+
- Tumblr
Step 2. Join a blogging community
If you enjoy reading other blogs on the same topic, you may be aware that people will leave their blog links in the comments, especially on popular content. Just commenting on other blogs is a great way to introduce yourself and your ideas to other readers. In addition, those who end up clicking on your blog link are more likely to be loyal readers because they share the same ideas and viewpoints.
- Provide creative and intelligent comments. Writing sparse, boring, or irrelevant comments and then including a link to your blog won't interest them.
- Frequently comment on various blogs. After a while, the blog writer will see your comments and at least want to see your blog, or even invite you to collaborate.
Step 3. Consider inviting guest authors or contributors to create content
If you can connect with other bloggers, you can invite them to be guest writers or contributors on your blog. They will definitely be happy to share the content created, so you can get new readers who may not know about your blog. In addition, this guest blogger may invite you to be a contributor or guest writer for his blog. Before you decide to invite other people to write on your blog, create a big picture of the content you want them to create, so they know exactly what they have to create for you, and are willing to accept your requests.
- If you are good friends with another blogger, try offering to create a piece or two of content on their blog. He may be willing to make something for you later.
- Interview-style writing is probably the easiest for guest writers, but if you know exactly what you want to get, you can ask other bloggers to create the content.
Step 4. Install notification system
You've probably done this: find a blog you like, forget to note the URL, and then never visit that blog again (one of the reasons is forgetting). Don't let that happen to your readers. Install a newsletter or update notification system that lets your readers know when you create new content. If you want an easy way for this, just follow a program like Bloglovin.com. These websites allow other users to follow your blog, and receive notifications whenever you create new content.
Instead of sending notifications every time you create new content--which can be annoying if you create new content often enough--try sending monthly updates to readers who comment or subscribe to your blog. That way, you don't have to bother your readers with emails that aren't that important all the time
Step 5. Set up an ad exchange
Many blogs create an ad column whose contents are other blogs with their own genre. Create a place on your blog to be used as another blog ad; those ads are likely to go to your page too. Also do the opposite; Look for free or cheap monthly ad space on other blogs. That way, in the end, each side gets more readers.
- If you've never advertised on your own blog, try offering "first month free" to get attention.
- The more popular your blog is, the more expensive it will be to advertise on your blog. Start from scratch and work hard so you can have a big and popular blog.
- You can also place your blog ads on popular websites. But the cost is very expensive so it is not recommended for beginner bloggers.
Step 6. Write about other bloggers, then tell those bloggers
Sometimes, when you read other blogs, you will see the author mention the name of a blog or article that he likes. This way, the named blogger will usually at least share the content, post the same article on his blog, or send an email to the person who mentioned it. They will be flattered that the content is liked. The smallest benefit you get, at least you get one new reader.
- Make a list of blogs you like, and link to their blogs on yours. This will increase the chances of the bloggers you mention mentioning you and listing you on their blogs.
- If you don't feel comfortable showing blogs that you like, try to contact the blogger personally and let them know that you like their blog. He will still appreciate it and will take the time to look at your blog.
Step 7. Create content at the right time
If your target audience is seniors over 50, then creating new content in the middle of the night is a bad idea. Or, writing an article about good party decorations for the new year right on January 1st won't have a great effect either. Think about the type of content and your target audience and adjust the timing of your content creation and release based on those two.
- Writings related to certain dates must be planned and made in advance so that readers still have time to read and implement them before the date in question arrives.
- If you have a specific schedule for creating content, stick to it. That way your readers know when they will get new content from you and visit your blog at that time without needing to be reminded.
Tips
- Make sure your ads are targeted. Promote your blog on a website where people will be interested in your blog. If you're creating content that your friends' friends will like, share your blog link to those friends. You can also include your signature in the forums you follow. If you have a blog about gardening and make comments on forums about roses, put a link to your blog, or content on your blog that discusses roses, and provide a brief but clear description (what the link contains).
- Choose a topic that really interests you. It will take some time for your blog to have good, consistent traffic, so it's best if you write something you're passionate about even though you might not get much results. While using highly searched words will make your blog easier to find, your traffic will drop quickly if you don't know what you're writing, and you'll end up with a lonely blog with content you're not interested in creating yourself.
- While not all bloggers do this, buying your own domain name can make your blog easier to find and make it easier for you to create a more professional look. "websitename.com" is certainly easier to remember than "websitename.hostname.com". So, the shorter the URL the better traffic you can get.
- Watch your competitors. Knowing other blogs that provide content similar to yours will let you know how to make your blog unique from other blogs.
Warning
- Don't steal other people's content. Whatever you post on your blog should be your own creation. If you use something you don't own, such as an image, cite the source and ask the owner for permission. Stealing content is one of the fastest ways to lose reputation as well as readers.
- If you discuss your personal life on a blog, be careful about providing information. Your blog should not include personal contacts or other people. If you want to discuss your family or friends on your blog, it's best to use a pseudonym so that you don't directly defame others.
- Don't spam. You can promote your blog, but don't annoy people by constantly promoting it, especially in private. If you are asked to stop promoting your blog on websites or to specific people, stop.
- Respect other sites. Many people get annoyed when someone uses their site to promote other sites. If you visit other blogs, leave meaningful and relevant comments on articles that you find interesting. If you make comments on forums, read the commenting rules and participate in the discussions. do not just put a link to your blog just like that.
