This wikiHow teaches you how to search for an image using other existing images on Google. You can use Google's image search feature on the desktop to upload the image you want to search yourself, or use the Google Chrome browser on mobile devices and desktop computers to search the internet for suitable images.

Method 1 of 3: Using Google Search Feature on Desktop
Step 1. Go to Google Images page

Step 2. Click the button
It's a camera icon in the far-right corner of the search bar in the middle of the page.
If you want to search for images that match a specific word or phrase, simply type that word or phrase into the search bar and press Enter key to see the image search results
Step 3. Choose a photo upload method
Click one of the following tabs:
- “ Paste image URL ” – Click this tab if you have copied the web address (URL) of the previous image. To copy an image's web address, open the image, click the address bar at the top of your browser window to select an address, and press Ctrl+C (Windows) or Command+C (Mac).
- “ Upload an image ” – Click this tab if the image you want to use is already saved on your computer.
Step 4. Upload photos to Google
The upload steps will differ depending on the photo upload option you specify:
- “ Paste image URL ” – Click the search bar, press the Ctrl+V (Windows) or Command+V key combination, and click the “ Search by image ”.
- “ Upload an image " - Click " Choose File ”, find and click the image you want to use, then click “ Open ”.
Step 5. Review the image search results
If the uploaded photo is also available online, you may see the photo in different versions and sizes in search results. Otherwise, Google will look for images that look similar to the image you uploaded.
Method 2 of 3: Using Google Chrome on Mobile Devices
Step 1. Open Google Chrome
Tap the red, yellow, blue, and green Chrome app icon.
Step 2. Touch the search bar
This bar is at the top of the screen.
If you don't see the search bar, tap the “ + ” in the upper-left corner of the screen first.
Step 3. Enter the search keywords
Type in a word or phrase that matches the image you want to search for, then tap the “ Go ” (iPhone) or “ Enter " or " ✓ (Android).
Step 4. Touch the IMAGES tab
This tab is at the top of the screen, just below the search bar. Image search results that match the search entry/keyword will be displayed.
Step 5. Select the image you want to use
Touch the image you want to use as the basis for the search. Once touched, the image will be displayed.
Step 6. Touch the button which is below the image
After that, a pop-up menu will be displayed.
Don't touch the button " ⋮ ” in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Step 7. Touch the Search by image button
It's in the drop-down menu.
Step 8. Review the image search results
You can see a list of matching (or similar) images on the search results page.
Method 3 of 3: Using Google Chrome on a Desktop Computer
Step 1. Open Google Chrome
The program is marked by a red, yellow, blue, and green ball icon.
Step 2. Click the address bar
This bar is at the top of the Chrome window. After that, the content/address in the bar will be marked.
Step 3. Enter the search keywords
Type a word or phrase that matches the image you want to search for, then press Enter.
Step 4. Click the Images tab
This tab is below the search bar, at the top of the page. After that, all image search results will be displayed.
If you don't see the option " Images ”, click the link “ More ” which is at the far right of the row of tabs, then click the option “ Images ” from the displayed drop-down menu.
Step 5. Select the image you want to use
Click the image that you want to use as a search base. After that, the image will be opened.
Step 6. Click Search by image
This link is just below the image title, in the gray box on the right side of the page.
Step 7. Review the image search results
You can see a list of matching (or similar) images on the search results page.
