Step 1. Open the This PC application on the computer
This application is indicated by a small computer icon. You can see it on the desktop or the “Start” menu.
Step 2. Double-click the primary drive
The main drive contains all the Windows system files.

If you have multiple drives on your computer, your primary drive may be labeled D:
or another letter.
Step 3. Double-click the Windows folder
This folder contains all the system files and folders on the main drive.
Step 4. Double click the SystemApps folder
You can find Windows system default application files in this folder.
Step 5. Locate the “Microsoft Edge” folder under “SystemApps”
All Microsoft Edge program files are stored in this folder in the “SystemApps” directory.
- This folder is usually named " Microsoft. MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe " in the " SystemApps " directory.
- The numbers and letters at the end of the folder name may differ depending on the version used.
Step 6. Right-click the “Microsoft Edge” folder
The right-click option will appear in the drop-down menu.
Step 7. Click Rename on the right-click menu
With this option, you can rename the “Microsoft Edge” folder.
Step 8. Rename the folder to Edge
When the folder name changes, the system cannot track Microsoft Edge program files and will disable the application.
