This wikiHow teaches you how to add a profile picture for your YouTube account. Because YouTube is owned and managed by Google, photos used as Google account profile pictures will also be used as YouTube profile pictures.

Method 1 of 3: Using a Computer
Step 1. Open https://www.youtube.com in a browser (browser)
You can use any browser installed on Windows or Mac.
Step 2. Log in to your YouTube account
If you are not logged into your YouTube account, click the button Login which is blue and is at the top right of the YouTube page. After that, select the Google account that is linked to the YouTube account.
If the desired account does not appear, click Add Account (User Another Account) and enter the email address (electronic mail or also known as email) and the password for the account.
Step 3. Click the icon at the top right of the page
The icon will display your profile picture once you've added it to your account. If you haven't added one, it will show a white silhouette of a person. Clicking on it will bring up the account menu.
Step 4. Click
Settings (Settings).
It's at the bottom of the account menu and next to the gear icon.
Step 5. Click Edit on Google (Edit on Google)
This link is blue and is to the right of your name and profile picture at the top of the Settings menu. Clicking on it will open the "About Me" page for your Google account.
Step 6. Click the icon
in the center of the circle icon.
This circle icon displays your current profile picture or a colored circle containing your initials. Click the white camera icon to bring up the "Pick a Photo" window.
Step 7. Click Upload Photo (Upload Photo)
It's in the upper-left side of the "Select Photo" window. Clicking on it will bring up a file browser window. In this window, you can search for and select photos stored on your computer.
Step 8. Select the photo and click Open
Use a file browser window to search for photo files stored on your computer. Several different folders will appear on the left side of the window. Click the photo file to select it and click the button Open in the bottom right of the window.
- Make sure the photo file you want is saved on your computer.
- When the photo you want has been uploaded to your Google account, you can click on it in the "Select Photo" window.
Step 9. Click Done (Done)
It's in the upper-right corner of the "Select Photo" window. Clicking on it will add a profile picture to the account. The selected photo will be used on all Google accounts, including YouTube accounts.
Method 2 of 3: Using iPhone and iPad
Step 1. Open the YouTube app
The YouTube app icon is a red square containing a white triangle. Tap the icon to open it.
If you're not logged into your YouTube account, tap the white silhouette of a person at the top right of the screen. After that, select the Google account that is linked to the YouTube account. If the desired account does not appear, tap Add account (Add account) and enter the email address and password for the account.
Step 2. Tap the icon at the top right of the screen
The icon will display your profile picture once you've added it to your account. If you haven't added a profile picture, this icon will display a colored circle with your initials on it.
Step 3. Tap your name
This link is below your profile picture and is at the top of the "Account" menu. Tapping on it will display a list of accounts that can be logged in.
Step 4. Tap
It's a gear icon in the top right of the "Account" menu. Tapping it will bring up the "Manage Accounts" menu.
Step 5. Tap the account you want to add the image to
Tapping on it will bring up the Google account menu.
Step 6. Tap Update Photo
This button is blue and is below your name and email address. You can find it at the top of the Google Account menu.
Step 7. Tap Set Profile Photo
It's blue and in the bottom right of the pop-up window.
Step 8. Tap Take Photo (Take Photo) or Choose from Photos (Choose from Photos).
If you want to take a photo with your phone's camera, tap Take Photo. If you want to select a photo stored on the device, tap Choose from Photos.
If you are prompted to allow YouTube to access photos on your device, tap allow (Allow).
Step 9. Tap or take a photo
If you want to take a photo with your device's camera, tap the circle icon at the bottom of the screen to take a photo. After that, tap Use Photo (Use Photo). If you want to use a photo stored on the device, tap Camera Roll (Camera Roll) and tap the photo you want to use as your YouTube profile photo.
Method 3 of 3: Using Android
Step 1. Open the Google app
The app icon is a red, yellow, green, and blue "G" on a white background. You can find it on your homescreen, Google folder, or application menu. Tap the icon to open it.
Step 2. Tap the More tab (More)
This tab is at the bottom right of the screen. The tab icon is three horizontal dots.
Step 3. Tap your name and email address
You'll find it at the top left of the "More" menu.
Step 4. Tap on the Google account linked to the YouTube account
If the Google account you are signed in to is different from the account linked to the YouTube account, tap the Google account associated with the YouTube account in the menu.
If the desired account does not appear in the list, tap Add More Account (Add Another Account) and enter the email address and password for the account.
Step 5. Tap Manage Your Google Account
This button is below your name and email address. You'll find it at the top of the screen. Tapping on it will bring up the Google account menu.
Step 6. Tap the Personal info tab
This tab is the second tab at the top of the screen. Tapping on it will display editable personal info.
Step 7. Tap Photo (Photo)
This option is the first option in the Personal Info menu.
Step 8. Tap the profile icon
This icon is circular and above your name. The icon displays your current profile picture or a colored circle containing your initials. Tapping on it will bring up the "Select photo" menu.
Step 9. Tap Upload photo
It's in the upper-left side of the "Select photo" menu. Tapping on it will bring up several apps that can be used to select a photo.
When the photo you want has been uploaded to your Google account, you can tap it in the "Select photo" menu to select it as your profile picture
Step 10. Tap Camera (Camera) or files.
If you want to take a photo with your device's camera, tap Camera. Use the white button at the bottom of the screen to take a photo. If you want to select a photo stored in the Gallery (Gallery), tap File and select the photo you want to use as your profile picture.
If you are asked to allow Google to access your camera or photos, tap allow.
Step 11. Tap Done
This button is at the top-right of the screen showing your profile picture. Tapping on it will add the photo as a Google and YouTube account profile picture.
