The Legendary Dogs, or as they are sometimes referred to as The Beasts or The Legendary Cats, are unique and powerful Pokémon, which appear in the later stages of the game. If you're playing Pokémon FireRed or LeafGreen, your mission isn't over until you find the three Pokémon Legendary Dogs, but the process isn't as easy as you might think. Not only is it difficult to catch, the three legendary Pokémon that are classified as Legendary Dogs move randomly, not staying in one place. To do so, there are a few simple tricks you can use to find those legendary Pokémon in no time.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Unlocking In-Game Legendary Pokémon
Step 1. Be aware that only one Pokémon Legendary Dog will appear in your game, even after certain conditions are met
So that you don't run into those legendary Pokémon while you're still not strong enough, the Legendary Dog Pokémon won't appear in the game until you're near the end of the game. You can only catch one Legendary Dog Pokémon, that too depends on the starting Pokémon you choose:
- Choosing Squirtle as the starting Pokémon allows you to catch the electric elemental dog Pokémon, Raikou.
- Choosing Bulbasaur as the starting Pokémon allows you to catch the fire element dog Pokémon, Entei.
- Choosing Bulbasaur as the starting Pokémon allows you to catch the water element dog Pokémon, Suicune.
Step 2. Defeat the Elite Four
The Elite Four, who are the final opponents in the game, must be defeated in order for the Legendary Dog to appear. You can only fight the Elite Four once all the gym badges have been collected.
- You'll need several Pokémon at level 50 or so to defeat the Elite Four, and they should also be strong enough to fight Pokémon Legendary Dog.
-
The Elite Four are made up of different types of Pokémon, and each Pokémon trainer in it has a specific type that you must fight:
- Lorelei uses an Ice-type Pokémon. Fight with Fire-type Pokémon.
-
Bruno uses Fighting and Rock type Pokémon. Fight with Flying or Water type Pokémon.
- Agatha uses a Poison-type Pokémon. Fight with Psychic-type Pokémon.
-
Lance uses a Dragon-type Pokémon. Fight with Electric and Ice type Pokémon.
Step 3. Earn the National Pokédex by catching 60 different Pokémon
Once you've caught or trained 60 different Pokémon, Professor Oak will give you a National Pokédex. Once you have it and defeat the Elite Four, you can find the Pokémon Legendary Dog.
You must return to Professor Oak's house which is near your house at the start of the game to get the National Pokédex
Step 4. Be aware that Legendary Dog's Pokémon move randomly
Unlike other legendary Pokémon, Pokémon Legendary Dog doesn't stay in one place and wait for your arrival. Every time you enter a new building, try to fight, and when you change regions, the location of the Legendary Dog Pokémon will change, making it difficult for you to find it. However, there are a few tricks you can do to find it.
Method 2 of 3: Finding Pokémon Legendary Dogs
Step 1. Try to walk in the grass around Kanto
Pokémon Legendary Dogs can be found in the grass, just like any other Pokémon. Find a path with lots of grass and weak Pokémon, such as Pewter City, Route 2, or Route 7, then start walking through the grass.
You can ride a bike to move faster
Step 2. Buy Max Repel of 10 to 20 units
Repel prevents weak Pokémon from attacking you, but Pokémon Legendary Dogs will not be affected. That is, the only Pokémon you will encounter is Legendary Dog, so no matter what you come across, you can be sure it will be Legendary Dog.
Max Repel works until you've walked 250 steps, then you have to use it again
Step 3. Select the main Pokémon with level 49 or below
Go to the "Team" option, then set the position in it so that the Pokémon in the first position is below level 50. All Legendary Dog Pokémon are at level 50, and Max Repel will repel all Pokémon of the same or lower level as the first Pokémon. in the team.
Your best bet is to put a level 49 Pokémon in first place. That way, you'll only be able to find Pokémon at level 50 and over, including Pokémon Legendary Dog
Step 4. Walk through the grass for 10 to 20 seconds to find the Pokémon
Remember, Pokémon Legendary Dogs move randomly each time you switch regions. You can try in the same grass for hours, but if you never change regions, the Pokémon won't move either.
Step 5. Go inside the building or move to another area if you can't find the Pokémon
The easiest place to do this is by entering the house on Route 2 above Viridian City. After you've checked the grass for 10 to 20 seconds, go inside the house and then head out. That way, Pokémon Legendary Dog will move to a new location, and there's a good chance that the place it goes to is grass near you.
Step 6. Repeat the process of buying reps, checking grass, and changing regions until the Pokémon appears
Make sure that you keep checking the grass with your Max Repel on until the Pokémon appears. This process may take some time as the Pokémon move randomly. Remember, the Pokémon can move anywhere. You have to be patient until you get the chance.
Step 7. Use the Pokédex to search for the Pokémon again if you miss an opportunity
After you see the Pokémon for the first time, the Pokédex will update the Pokémon's location afterwards. That way, it will be easier for you to find them again if you fail to catch them the first time. Open the Pokédex, find the Pokémon's data, and select the "Area" section to find it.
- If you kill it by accident, it will never appear in the game again.
- However, keep in mind that when you try to get to a Pokémon's location, it will immediately move. Check the Pokédex every time you enter a new territory to see if it's in the same place as you.
Method 3 of 3: Catching Pokémon Legendary Dog
Step 1. Know that these Pokémon are among the most difficult to catch
Although powerful, Pokémon Legendary Dog can be easily defeated using a team of 6 Pokémon. However, the Pokémon doesn't want to be caught, so it will try to run away when it encounters you. Therefore, these Pokémon are difficult to catch and make permanent members of your team.
The damage received by the Pokémon will last. If you run into him once and injure him to half his blood drop before escaping, his blood will stay in that position the next time you see him
Step 2. Make sure that you attack first by increasing your Pokémon's speed
If you don't get a chance to attack first, the Pokémon will run away before you can do anything. To prevent this, make sure that your Pokémon is fast enough to attack first. You can give a Pokémon a "Quick Claw" to ensure that it attacks first. To attack first, your Pokémon's Speed points must be higher than your opponent's:
- Suicune has a Speed as high as 85 points.
- Entei has a Speed as high as 100 points.
- Raikou has a Speed as high as 115.
Step 3. Use deterrence skills to keep the Pokémon from escaping
Some Pokémon, such as Wobbuffet, have a skill called "Shadow Tag", which prevents opposing Pokémon from escaping. Some other Pokémon have skills like Mean Look, Block, and Area Trap that can ensure that your opponent doesn't run away while the Pokémon is still in battle.
Skills like Wrap and Fire Spin injure opponents for several turns, and also prevent them from escaping. The skill lasts for 3 to 5 turns, then you have to use it again
Step 4. Give it a Sleep, Freeze, or Paralyze state so that Pokémon can be caught more easily
The above status effects are difficult to apply, but when successful, the opponent will have a hard time escaping and the chances of catching them with Poké Balls will increase. Try some skills, for example:
- Sleep
- Spore
- Paralyze
- Poison.
Step 5. Try to prevent your opponent from using Roar
Entei and Raiko have these annoying skills, and can force you to flee from combat, causing the Pokémon to escape. While you can't do much of anything, giving it a Sleep or Paralyze state will prevent it from using Roar on you.
The "Taunt" skill will cancel the effect of the Roar skill, but you must use it in the first round for it to be effective
Step 6. Weak the opponent until the remaining blood is less than 10%
If you kill him, you won't be able to catch him again. Use fast and effective skills, such as False Swipe and Night Shade to reduce his blood, without fear of overdoing it.
Don't bet on a strong attack -- if they run away before you catch them, they'll show up with the remaining amount of blood. This means that you can do it patiently and safely
Step 7. Use as many Ultra balls as possible to catch the Pokémon
Every time a Poké Ball fails, it's easier to catch the Pokémon, so don't give up if your first few tries fail. You can give your opponent Sleep or Paralyze status back so they can catch him easily.
- Usually, you need 50 or more Ultra Balls to successfully catch your opponent. It's better if you have that many Ultra Balls than running out when you need them.
- The Timer Ball, which gets better the longer the battle goes on, will reach its maximum potential after 25 rounds have passed. Use Ultra balls to weaken Pokémon, then throw a Timer ball in the later stages of a fight to make it more effective.
Step 8. Alternatively, you can use the Master Ball in the first round
Using Master Balls is the simplest way to catch difficult Pokémon, because Master Balls definitely work. After encountering a Legendary Dog Pokémon, you do not have to think about trapping it or reducing its blood -- throw the Master Ball straight away. This is a guaranteed way to catch Pokémon Legendary Dogs.
However, keep in mind that you can only get one Master Ball in the game. Pokémon Legendary Dog is the most suitable choice for using Master Ball
Tips
- Make sure that you have as many Ultra Balls as you can afford to carry.
- If you choose Squirtle, you will meet Raikou. If you choose Charmander, you will meet Suicune. If you choose Bulbasaur, you will meet with Entei. Keep that in mind as you prepare your team to capture Legendary Dog.
- Skills that cause Paralysis, Sleep, and Poison states make Pokémon easier to catch.
- You must defeat the Elite Four first.
- Try to keep looking for it on Route 1 using Wynaut/Wobbufet with Shadow Tag skill to find the Legendary Dog Pokémon and trap it.
- Save the game regularly just in case you kill the Pokémon.
Warning
- Saving the game when you and the Pokémon are in the same place won't work. When you reload the game, the Pokémon will be somewhere else.
- Try not to give Burn or Poison stats, which can kill an opponent due to the damage dealt.
- Save the game before battling a Legendary Dog Pokémon just in case it dies or uses Roar in the middle of a fight.
