A showerhead is the perfect way to add a little Zen to your home, bringing beauty, serenity and nature into your home the moment you step into the house. In this wikiHow article, you'll learn about three shower designs, and all of them can be used indoors or outdoors. This is an easy project that requires some technique or equipment and you can complete yourself in just a few hours. Just start with Step 1 below to learn it!
Step
Method 1 of 3: Flowerpot Shower
Step 1. Gather materials
You will need one clay plate measuring 35 cm, 17.5 cm, 15 cm, and three 10 cm. You will also need 15 cm and 10 cm flower pots, a shower pump, 1.25 cm rubber tubing, silicone glue, clear glue spray, a file, and a drill with a concrete bit.
Step 2. Prepare the base
Spray clear glue on the inside of a 35 cm clay dish. Do as many as three layers, alternating with drying time.
Step 3. Drill and file pots and plates
Soak the remaining flowerpots and plates to make them easier to shape and drill. A 17.5 cm plate drill forms a 1.25 cm hole for the rubber pipe, with a wooden block underneath for support. Then, file four notches on the rim of the 15 cm pot and one 10 cm plate. Files with downward angles form large notches on plates measuring 17.5 cm, 15 cm and 10 cm. This will serve as a pathway for the water to flow downwards.
Step 4. Install the main shower
With the pump on a 35 cm saucer, attach the rubber tube to the pump, then run it through the hole in the bottom of the 15 cm pot (with the pot upside down). Arrange the pot so that the pump cord passes through a notch on the lip of the pot. Now place the 17.5 cm plate on top, facing up. Cut off the excess pipe, leaving about 1.25 cm, then seal around the edges of the pipe using silicone glue.
Step 5. Install the rest of the showerhead
Place the 10cm flower pot upside down, and overwrite it with a 15cm plate, and a 10cm plate with a notch on top of a 10cm whole plate. Arrange the plates and pots so the water will run over each other. As a final step, place a 10 cm plate with the notch upside down so that it can cover the hole with the pipe.
The water will be pulled up, then it will pour out on a 17.5 cm plate, then a 15 cm plate, then a 10 cm plate, then back on a 35 cm plate, so the process can be started again. The notch acts as a path for the water to flow, so if you're having problems with circulation, try making a bigger notch
Step 6. Add the finishing touches
Fill the plate with river stones or other material, then add plants or other decorations to your shower. Enjoy!
Method 2 of 3: Bamboo Shower
Step 1. Take a nice large bowl or pot
This will be the main part of your shower. A wide opening is very important in making a bamboo shower.
Step 2. Take and cut the bamboo to size
You will need 1.9 cm diameter bamboo that is long enough to fit the opening in the pot. You will also need pieces of bamboo that are larger than 5 cm in diameter, cut the bamboo to a length of 15 cm. Connect one end of the bamboo strip to make a spout.
Step 3. Assemble the platform
Using twine or string, tie 3 small bamboo strips together to form a platform that will fit half the size of the pot. Glue the larger pieces of bamboo onto the platform using glue, but attach them at a downward angle (using a wedge) so that the spout is angled toward the center of the pot.
Step 4. Install the shower
Place the pump at the bottom of the pot. Connect the pipe all the way to the back of the platform. Place the end of the pipe on the bamboo spout so that the pipe enters about 5 cm, then tie the pipe to the pot so that it stays in position (not in a wet area).
Step 5. Add water and start the pump
Add water to the pot and start the pump. The showerhead should be able to function properly. Now you just need to make it look prettier!
Step 6. Add the finishing touches
Fill the bottom of the pot with river stones and add some fake plants around the spout to cover the pump from showing. Enjoy your new shower!
Method 3 of 3: Scallop Shower
Step 1. Take a decorative bowl or pot
The bowl or pot should be made of glass or something waterproof. Also, don't let the bowl or pot have holes or gaps to prevent water from escaping.
Step 2. Take the clam shells
Most importantly, you will need a large clam shell. The rest, you can use shells of various sizes. You can also use some river rocks or coral.
Step 3. Drill the clam shells to form holes
You will need to insert the pipe from the pump into the large clam shell. Take a drill with a ceramic drill bit and start with the smallest size, then work your way up until the hole is large enough for the pipe to pass through. The size of the hole may be around 1.9 cm. If you are using a drill bit that is large enough, continue to use a file to get the hole the right size.
Step 4. Install the pump
Place the pump on the bottom of the bowl. Attach the rubber tube to the pump, then insert the other end into the large shell.
Step 5. Close the pipe
Apply silicone glue around the opening to make it watertight and help keep the pipe in place. Let the glue dry.
Step 6. Finish the shower
Cover the pump with rocks and shells or other water-resistant decorative items. Place the large shell on top and tilt the spout slightly down.
Step 7. Add water and start the pump
You're done! Enjoy your shower!
