A photography blog is a great place to show off your favorite photos as well as explanatory content for your blog followers. Any photographer looking to get into this business, or who just wants to find an audience, should consider starting a blog. Blogs will give people a place to easily find your work and give you encouragement to keep practicing making new photos.

Method 1 of 2: Building a Photo Blog
Step 1. Consider why you are creating a photography blog
Do you want to create a professional website to sell photos, or just want to share your work with others? The reason this will make a huge difference to the blog as a whole, is because there are many different types of blogging sites depending on your needs. In general:
- Professional Photographer It is highly recommended to purchase your own domain name (www.himago.com[1], for example), to make it look like a reputable business. Most large blogging sites, such as Weebly or WordPress, allow you to purchase your own domain name and customize your photos.
- Hobby Photographer usually find success on larger photo-sharing sites, like Tumblr, where it's easy to market your work to others with similar interests. The site is free and easy to set up and run.
Step 2. Upload 5-10 photos instantly when you create the site
So other people can see that on the site is already available content from the beginning. That way, your blog has a greater chance of being followed by others. This method also gives you the opportunity to see how the template (blog style) looks and edit it to fit your vision.
Once you've selected a blog site, search the internet for "Free photography templates for _". Fill in the blanks with Wordpress, Tumblr, etc. Both are easy to copy to your blog and there is a lot to customize
Step 3. Make sure your photos are the main attraction
The first impression that must be seen by viewers is a photo, not a text description or long title, let alone a request for blog visitors to buy your work. Several ways to do this include:
- Choose 4-5 of your favorite photos and display them at the top of the screen in the form of a slide show or photo strip.
- Make the latest photo or post the main center of the web page.
- Create a homepage in the form of a collage of your entire post collection (available on certain blog templates).
Step 4. Add basic contact information on the web page
This small section is usually labeled “About” (About Me). But you can also create a "Contact Me" page on some blogging sites like Tumblr. This section is important if someone wants to buy a photo copyright or hire you.
Step 5. Consider adding a Creative Commons license
This free license tells you what purposes your photos may be used for. You can choose from various options on their website, from " Everyone can use freely " to " May only be used or reproduced with permission from me " (May only be used or reproduced with permission from me " (May only be used or reproduced with my permission). This simple addition is a great step in case of copyright infringement.
- You can ask other people to ask permission if they want to use your photo, let them know whether or not to use the photo for non-profit purposes only.

Method 2 of 2: Selecting Photos
Step 1. Decide on a theme
Determining the theme of the blog will make the blog easier to find, easier to market, and have a higher probability of going big. There are lots of photo blogs out there. But telling people specifically what kind of photos they're going to see can help them find the photos they really want to see. This means that visitors will be more interested in the content of your site. The themes don't need to be complicated -- "landscape," "portrait," and "city life" are better choices than a random collection of photos.

Step 2. Publish photos every day
To get an audience and build a following, you need to be constantly providing content. Otherwise, there will be others out there providing new photos for viewers to see.
All blogs have a scheduling feature. This means that you can upload 20 photos on a Sunday and then schedule your blog to automatically publish one new photo each day
Step 3. Add a title, the story behind it, and a little bit of your personality
The best blogs always include the personality of the photographer. Tell us why you were interested in taking the photo, any strange stories that happened when trying to take the photo, the history of the subject, or the technicalities used to make the photo look good. Just write about what attracted you to take the photo.
Step 4. Group photos into "photo essays" or photo sets
This is a great way to attract viewers to your blog and to hone your photo skills. Every few weeks, give yourself a specific challenge -- 10 black and white photos, a neighborhood photo, a trip photo -- then group those challenges into smaller subdirectories. You can even create photo “labels” so viewers can see your diverse photo skills. Create a page or group of "Nature" photos next to the main abstract photography. Or tell the story of one day in 10 photo "story."
Step 5. Do not include photos that can degrade the overall quality of the blog
While some photos may have a huge emotional appeal to you, bad photos aren't worth adding just for emotional reasons, or because you missed publishing yesterday. Others will not respond as positively as you. So use your mind, not your feelings, to choose the photos you want to publish to your blog. Unless you're trying to explain how to shoot the wrong photo, or there's an extraordinary moment (like a famous person getting caught in a blur), but make sure you give an excellent explanation!
- Don't upload blurry photos.
- Don't upload boring photos.
- Don't upload poorly exposed photos.
- Don't upload photos of familiar places. You have to be different so that people will follow your blog instead of other people's blogs.
Step 6. Join an online photo community
Part of blogging is meeting other photographers who share your interests. Follow other photographers for inspiration and take the time to let them know if you like one of his works. Try to exchange information on social media and publish someone's work on your blog if it's really cool. Making friends with nearby photographers will increase your blog visitors while leading to future collaborations and projects.
Tips
- In general, a more sophisticated camera can produce better photos. But composition, lighting, artistic vision are clearly more important factors than your equipment.
- If you're concerned about your work being stolen, put a watermark or a small semi-transparent logo on your photo before uploading it.
