The animal kingdom is an ideal place to find inspiration for costume parties or Halloween. Choose between lion, bee, and frog costumes, or modify one of them to become your favorite creature. These costumes are versatile and can be made for children as well as adults.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Making a Lion Costume
Step 1. Find an old hoodie that you no longer use or buy one at a thrift store
The colors that work best are yellow, tan, gold, and orange, but you can be any colored lion you want. To top it off, wear a yellow or gold hoodie with matching colored pants.
Step 2. Purchase a yellow or gold thread to form your mane
Step 3. Buy some yellow or gold colored fabric or felt
Buy it 0.22 m long.
Step 4. Cut a bit of yellow fabric around the hood portion of your hoodie
Extend it on your workbench.
Step 5. Start looping your yarn along your fabric line
Attach these circles to the fabric every few inches for a secure settlement.
Step 6. Thread the ends of the fabric and sew vertically along the center of the long fabric, and through the loops of thread
It will be easier if you sew one at a time and continue looping the thread back and forth, a few inches apart.
Try to use as much yarn as possible to create a very bushy mane
Step 7. Continue until you reach the bottom of the sheer fabric
Sew upside down so that your thread sticks well.
Step 8. Cut through each circle to create the tassels
If your mane isn't thick enough, you can repeat the process by layering more loops of yarn.
Step 9. Fold the fabric from the back and thread it with the needle around the inner edge of the hood section
Sew with a sewing machine.
Step 10. Cut four 7.5 cm squares of fabric
Sew in half and leave the bottom open. Bend the top corners slightly to make lion ears.
Repeat the same for the other two pieces of fabric
Step 11. Fill the ears with cotton balls, batting, or extra cloth
Step 12. Sew the bottoms of the ears to the left and right sides of your hood
Do this with hand stitches. Try fitting it between the layers of the mane of yarn. These ears should be on either side of your forehead.
Step 13. Add accessories, such as fluffy socks or sandals, and a tail
Method 2 of 3: Making a Bee Costume
Step 1. Purchase a roll of yellow tape
Step 2. Find a black t-shirt and pants, or a black dress that you no longer wear
Step 3. Cut the tape to a length that roughly matches your body circumference and wrap it horizontally around your body
Strip your body for every three inches.
Step 4. Take the black nylon thread and two hangers to make your wings
Use pliers to untwist the metal coat hanger. Shape it into an oval and connect it by twisting or by wrapping metal in the middle.
Step 5. Connect two loops of rubber to the center of the hanger
These two rubbers will be the loop where your arm is inserted.
Step 6. Stretch one side of the black pantyhose leg around each side of the hanger frame
Then, fold the middle and tie it.
Step 7. Buy two pipe cleaners and a yellow pompom
Attach the black headband on both sides of your head using super glue. Twist it to make it look like an antenna.
Method 3 of 3: Making a Frog Costume
Step 1. Purchase some light green felt at a craft store
Cut a triangle measuring 7.5 x 10 cm as many as 13 pieces. Be careful and make sure all the triangles are the same size.
Step 2. Bring the corners together to make a large flag
The top point of the triangle should be facing down.
Step 3. Thread the green thread on your sewing machine
Then, sew over the flag, making sure you sew past the points where the triangles you created earlier meet.
Step 4. Wear a green T-shirt and pants if you have one
Wrap the flag around your neck. Use safety pins to hold the two ends together.
Step 5. Take two small white felt balls or Styrofoam balls
Draw the eyeball in the center with a permanent black marker.
If you want to imitate Kermit the Frog, search a search engine for his image and draw an eye that looks like his
Step 6. Attach both eyes to the little alligator clip
Use super glue to make sure these eyes stay glued. Make sure the black pupil is facing the right direction when the clip is in a horizontal position.
