This wikiHow teaches you how to play audio through two separate Bluetooth speakers at the same time. On a Mac, you can use the built-in tools to play music through two speakers (of any brand). On a Windows computer, you must use 2 speakers that can be paired with each other (usually two speakers of the same type).
Step
Method 1 of 2: Mac
Step 1. Pair the Bluetooth speaker with the Mac
If this has not already been done, follow the instructions that came with the speakers to connect them to the computer.
Step 2. Open Finder
The icon is first in the Dock.
Step 3. Click Go
This menu is at the top of the screen.
Step 4. Click Utilities
Step 5. Double-click Audio MIDI Setup
The Audio Devices window will open.
Step 6. Click the + which is at the bottom of the left pane
This will bring up a small menu.
Step 7. Click Create Multi-Output Device
A list of connected speakers will be displayed in the right pane.
Step 8. Select both Bluetooth speakers
You can do this by checking the box to the left of each speaker name. Whichever speaker you choose will play audio from your Mac computer simultaneously.
Step 9. Rename the new multi-output device
We recommend that you name the pair of speakers so you can easily find them in your sound settings. You can name it by double clicking Multi-Output Device in the left column (located at the bottom), then type All Bluetooth Speakers (or something similar).
Step 10. Set speakers as audio output on Mac computer
As a final step, set up your Mac to route audio through that pair of speakers. How to do it:
- Click the Apple menu, then click System Preferences.
- Click Sound.
- Click tab Output (this is the second tab at the top of the window).
- Click the name of your new speaker pair (in this case it's All Bluetooth Speakers).
Method 2 of 2: Windows
Step 1. Turn on both Bluetooth speakers
To use 2 Bluetooth speakers at the same time on a Windows computer, you need speakers that can be paired with each other. Usually, this means that you have to use two speakers of the same model. However, you can also pair speakers with different models, as long as they are of the same brand.
Step 2. Pair both speakers with Windows
If it's not already paired, turn on Bluetooth on the computer and pair the two speakers now. How to do it:
- Click the Windows search icon (the circle or magnifying glass next to the Start button).
- Type bluetooth in the search field.
- Click Bluetooth and other devices.
-
Slide the Bluetooth switch to On
if not active.
- Press the pairing button on the first speaker, then wait a few moments for the device to enter pairing mode.
- Click + Add Bluetooth or other device.
- Click Bluetooth.
- Click the loudspeaker.
- Follow the instructions given to complete the pairing.
- Once you've finished pairing the first speaker, pair the second speaker in the same way.
Step 3. Use the speaker manufacturer's app (if any) to pair the speakers together
Some speaker manufacturers include an application for Windows that can be used to connect two speakers. If your speakers have an app, run the app and check if there is an option to use multiple speakers (sometimes called multiple outlet).
Step 4. Open audio settings in Windows
How to do it:
- Click the search icon in Windows (a circle or magnifying glass next to the Start button).
- Type audio into the search field.
- Click Manage audio devices.
Step 5. Select Speakers and click Defaults.
You can find it at the bottom of the window.
If the Set Default button cannot be clicked, it means that the loudspeaker has been set as the default audio output. You can skip to the next step
Step 6. Click Recording
This is the second tab at the top of the window.
Step 7. Right-click Stereo Mix
If this option does not appear, right-click an empty space in the window and select Show Disabled Devices. Now the options will be displayed.
Step 8. Click Enable
This will tell the computer to use stereo sound instead of mono.
Step 9. Click Stereo Mix and select Defaults.
Now a green and white check mark will be displayed above Stereo Mix.
Step 10. Select Stereo Mix again, then click Properties.
It's to the right of the Set Default button that you clicked in the previous step.
Step 11. Click the Listen tab
This is the second tab.

Step 13. Select the second speaker from the Playback through this device menu
This is a non-default speaker at this point.
Step 14. Click OK
Step 15. Click OK once again
Now the audio settings are closed.
Step 16. Restart the computer
When the computer is turned on, you will be able to listen to audio in stereo through the two paired Bluetooth speakers at the same time.
