iPad has a variety of applications available for download from the App Store, the default program for all iOS products. After touching the App Store icon to open it, you can search for and download new apps, reinstall previously downloaded apps from iCloud, and update existing apps via the toolbar at the bottom of the App Store interface.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Installing New Apps
Step 1. Touch the App Store icon to open it
This app is marked by a light blue icon with the letter “A” formed from a painting brush and framed by a circle. Usually, you can find this icon on the home screen. You can also swipe down from the center of the iPad's screen and type "App Store" into the search bar to search for apps.
Any app for iPad or iPhone can be downloaded from the App Store
Step 2. Touch the magnifying glass icon to search for the desired application
It's in the bottom toolbar. If you don't specifically have an app you want to download, there are a few other options you can use:
- " Featured ": This segment shows apps selected by Apple.
- "Top Charts": This segment shows the most popular apps of all time.
- " Explore ": This segment allows you to browse apps by their alphabetical order of categories (e.g. " Books " for books, " Education " for educational apps, and " Games " for games).
Step 3. Type the name of the desired application into the search bar, then touch "Search"
The " Search " icon is a blue button that appears in the lower right corner of the keyboard.
Step 4. Review the displayed results
Swipe to see apps matching your search entry, or tap apps to see their ratings, reviews, and descriptions. Once you've determined the app you want, you can move on to the next step.
Step 5. Touch the " GET " button next to the app name, then select " INSTALL"
The installation process will begin immediately.
For paid apps, touch the price button, then select " BUY"
Step 6. Enter your Apple ID password if prompted
This password is the password you use with your Apple ID email address. Usually, you only need to enter the password for paid apps. Free applications will generally be directly downloaded to the device.
- If you don't have an Apple ID, you will need to create one first.
- If you purchased the app, you will need to enter your payment information before the app is downloaded. Follow the steps shown on the screen to enter the information.
Step 7. Touch "Open" to open the app directly
The "Open" option will be available once the app has finished downloading.
- You can also close the App Store window and access the downloaded apps from the home screen.
- New apps may be installed on subsequent pages on the iPad home screen, depending on the number of apps installed on the device (you may need to swipe a few times to find the app icon).
Step 8. Enjoy your new app
Now, you've successfully installed a new app on your iPad!
Method 2 of 3: Installing Apps from iCloud
Step 1. Touch the App Store icon to open it
The App Store is linked to an iCloud account so all your downloads can be tracked. This way, you can reinstall any previously downloaded apps on your iPhone or iPad using the same iCloud account information.
The App Store is marked by a light blue icon with the letter “A” formed from a painting brush and framed by a circle. Usually, you can find this icon on the home screen. You can also swipe down from the center of the iPad screen and type "App Store" into the search bar to search for apps
Step 2. Touch the “Updates” tab in the lower right corner of the screen
You will be taken to the app update page afterwards.
Step 3. Touch " Purchases " at the top of the screen
You can find application libraries in this segment.
Step 4. Browse the app library until you find the app you want
This library is a comprehensive list of all the apps you've downloaded with your currently active iCloud account.
You can also tap " Not on This iPad " to view previously downloaded apps
Step 5. Touch the cloud icon with an arrow pointing down next to the app
After that, the selected application will be downloaded to the device's home screen.
Step 6.
Step 7. Enjoy your app
Now you have successfully installed apps from iCloud!
Method 3 of 3: Updating Already Installed Apps
Step 1. Touch the App Store icon to open it
Usually, apps update automatically, but you can manually start the update process yourself.
Step 3. Review the apps that need updating
While all apps can work fine without developer-released micro-updates, try to update your apps frequently for best results.
Step 4. Touch the "Update All" button on the top right corner of the screen
Application will be updated soon.
You can also tap the " Update " button on the right side of each app separately
Step 5. Wait for the app to finish updating
This process may take a few minutes, depending on the strength of the network connection, the number of applications being updated, and the size of the application.
Tips
- This process can also be followed on other iOS devices (eg iPhone and iPod Touch).
- If you want a new app in a certain category, but don't know the name of the app you want, type the appropriate keyword into the search bar. You can get relevant apps easily.
- If you accidentally install an unwanted app, you can remove it by holding down the app icon until the icons start to wiggle. After that, tap the "X" button in the top-left corner of the app icon.
- You can download the iPhone-only app on the iPad. However, the app screen size will be optimized for iPhone so that the app window will appear smaller on the iPad screen or sometimes display with poor visual quality.
Warning
- Don't download apps carelessly. The device may run out of storage space.
- Read app descriptions and reviews before you download it, especially if you need to pay for the app.
