If you have installed Advanced Mac Cleaner on your Mac by mistake, follow the guidelines in this article to remove the application from your computer.
Step
Step 1. Back up important files first
Don't forget to save any open documents. Try doing the following:
- Export bookmarks in your web browser.
- Make a copy of the settings related to the keychain (sensitive data like passwords, usernames, etc.).
- Save any unsaved documents or files.
Step 2. Open the Utilities subfolder which is in the Applications file folder
Step 3. Run Activity Monitor
Next, search for Advanced Mac Cleaner, and press the small i icon in the upper-left corner of Activity Monitor. Click the third tab "Open Files & Ports". Record (or copy and paste) all "Output information" associated with the application.
Step 4. Press Quit when you are ready
Step 5. Click the back arrow tab, then check the Application folder
Try removing Advanced Mac Cleaner by moving the app into the Trash icon.
Step 6. Save the work you did and restart the computer
Step 7. Try cleaning anything related to Advanced Mac Cleaner that is still left on Mac computer
You can do this by going to the Library folder and manually deleting the service files remaining there.
Step 8. Delete anything related to "Advanced Mac Cleaner" that is still running on your Mac from the "Login Items" section
To do this, try performing the following steps:
- Open System Preferences, which is usually in the Mac's dock at the bottom of the screen.
- Hit the "Users & Groups" entry.
- When “Users & Groups” is opened, click on the previously mentioned “Login Items” tab.
- Highlight "Advanced Mac Cleaner" in the startup menu list, then press the "Minus" icon.
- Now you have successfully deleted it.
Tips
- We recommend that you do not download unwanted programs or Potentially Unwanted Programs (aka PUP or PUA/ Potentially Unwanted Application). The best way to avoid foistware (unwanted programs that usually come installed automatically with other programs) is to take precautions.
- To prevent the appearance of " junkware ", carefully read the wizard displayed by the program you are installing, and do not include unknown programs. This is a very important action even if you are using a Mac device. This is an easy and effective way to keep your computer clean.
- This action is necessary because the programs described above are optional potentially unwanted/unused/unrelated ones that are downloaded or installed on your Mac because you are an inexperienced computer user.
