This wikiHow teaches you how to separate an image from its background in Microsoft Paint using a computer. Paint can separate the background color of an image if it is a solid color and you can move it to another image. However, you cannot save an image with a transparent background and the transparent area will turn white when the image is saved.
Step
Step 1. Open the image in Microsoft Paint
Right-click the image file, hover over it Open with, and select Paint on the application list.
Choose a photo with a solid color or white background
Step 2. Select Color 2 on the toolbar
You have to select the background color of the image as “Color 2” here.
For example, if the background color of the image is white, set “Color 2” to the same white tone
Step 3. Click the Eyedropper Tool on the toolbar
Step 4. Click the image background
This will make the “Color 2” selection the background of the image. Now you can separate the image from its background color.
Step 5. Click the Select menu on the toolbar
It's in the upper-left corner. A drop-down menu will open.
Step 6. Click Transparent selection on the menu
The “Transparent Selection” option will be active on all parts that are lined with selection and put a check mark next to it, in the menu.
Step 7. Select the Rectangular selection or Free-form selection.
You can find this option in the menu Select.
You can use any of the tools in “Transparent Selection” mode, depending on the area you want to outline the selection
Step 8. Give a selection outline to the image you want to separate from the background
Press-and-hold the left mouse button and scroll around the image.
A black outline will appear, but will disappear when you release the mouse
Step 9. Right-click on the area that has been given the selection outline
A dotted line forming a box will appear around the selected area.
Step 10. Select Cut or Copy on the right-click menu.
Fields with a transparent selection outline will be copied to the clipboard.
The selected image will be separated from the background
Step 11. Open a new image in Paint
You can move the copied image here.
Step 12. Paste the copied image
Right-click the new image and select Paste. The copied image will be pasted into a new image with the previous transparent background.
