This wikiHow teaches you how to play Subway Surfers on mobile, and get the highest score and lots of coins.

Part 1 of 3: Playing the Game
Step 1. Swipe up the screen to jump
With this move, you can jump over obstacles and get coins that are in the air. However, you can't jump high enough to get on the train, unless you have the “Super Sneakers” power-up.
Step 2. Swipe down the screen to roll
You need to roll to duck and avoid obstacles.
Step 3. Swipe the screen left and right to switch lanes
Switch to another track to avoid trains, walls and other obstacles.
Step 4. Double-tap the screen to ride the hoverboard
With hoverboard, you can get more coins, as well as be protected from crashes.
Step 5. Collect coins to buy hoverboards and upgrades
Coins are scattered throughout the levels, and you need to move quickly to get as many coins as possible.
Step 6. Collect sparkling power-ups for extra power-ups
There are four types of power-ups you can find as you play:
- “Jetpack” – With this option, you can fly over the railroad tracks and earn extra coins.
- “Super Sneakers” – With this option, you can jump higher.
- “Coin Magnet” – With this option, you can attract coins that are around you, without having to touch them.
- “2x Multiplier” – This option doubles the active score multiplier (eg “x3” becomes “x6”).
Part 2 of 3: Survival in the Game
Step 1. Use the ramp to climb onto the train
You can see the ramp at the end of some of the train cars. Use the field to climb on top of the train and earn more coins, as well as avoid obstacles.
Step 2. Calculate the movement time
When sliding the screen to move, the character still needs time to move. Make sure you leave enough time to dodge the obstacles that come your way.
Step 3. Switch to another lane while flying or rolling
You can switch to another lane at any time, even while flying/in the air. Plan your move ahead of time so you can get off/on the right track.
If you're on the left or right lane, you can swipe the screen twice while flying to switch from lane to lane in one jump
Step 4. Jump, then immediately roll over
By rolling while jumping, the jump animation will be “undone” so you stay on the ground/rails. This procedure is useful, especially when you want to get coins on the train and so you don't jump too high when using the Super Sneakers powerup.
Step 5. Use hoverboard to avoid collision
Hoverboards prevent collisions so it's a good idea to save them or keep them until you need them most. If you're about to hit a train or a wall, double-tap the screen to use one of the hoverboards.
- The hoverboard can be purchased for 300 coins, but you can also get it as a gift.
- Save the hoverboard for a very high score/coin session or game to maximize the score. Don't waste your hoverboards to avoid crashes early in the game, while you can restart the game for free.
Part 3 of 3: Get Lots of Coins
Step 1. Touch the “Shop” button on the main menu
The key to getting lots of coins is upgrading some important power-ups. You can upgrade through the “Shop” menu.
Step 2. Scroll to the “Upgrades” section
Step 3. Use coins to upgrade “Coin Magnet” and “Jetpack” power-ups
By upgrading the two power-ups, you can earn more coins in the long run.
Step 4. Complete the daily challenge (“Daily Challenge”)
Every time you complete daily challenges, you will get rewards. Often, the prize is a significant amount of coins.
- To view the daily challenges, touch the “Daily Challenge” button at the top of the main menu.
- You have limited time to complete daily challenges and get rewards until the timer stops.
Step 5. Complete daily challenges on consecutive days
On each day (in a row) that you successfully win the challenge, you will get more attractive prizes. By completing daily challenges for five days in a row, you will get a “Super Mystery” box which usually contains a lot of coins. You will get a new “Super Mystery” box for each daily challenge that you successfully complete consecutively.
Step 6. Complete the mission
Although it doesn't directly generate coins, you can reach “Multiplier 30” to get “Super Mystery” boxes as mission rewards. These boxes usually contain a lot of coins so try to complete as many missions as possible.

Step 7. Try buying the “Double Coins” booster
This booster retails for 4.99 US dollars (around 75 thousand rupiah), but is a one-time purchase content that permanently doubles all the coins you manage to earn in the game. You can find this option at the top of the “Shop” menu.
Tips
- Try to avoid or not use the “Super Sneakers” power-up because this power-up actually does more harm than good!
- You can buy different boards and characters on the “Me” bar on the main/front page of the game.
- If you've played Temple Run before, it will be easier for you to learn how to play Subway Surfers.
- You can skip missions that are difficult to beat by purchasing the “Skip Mission” option.
- Buy a booster as this option is useful and may be needed.
- If you have forgotten how to play this game, there is a tutorial that you can access in the main menu.
- You can't jump off the rails to the top of the train, unless you have the “Super Sneakers” power-up.
- There are various characters in Subway Surfers so you can buy new characters if you have enough coins.
- Double-tap the screen to get a hoverboard.
