Step
Method 1 of 3: Basic Folds
Step 1. Fold a small towel in quarters
Small towels or washcloths are usually folded in quarters, folding them in half first and then folding them in half again. Small towels are usually not folded or only folded in half when hanging.
Step 2. Fold the hand towel in half
Hand towels are usually hung, so that they are simply folded in half lengthwise. If you don't want the side seams to show, fold the two long sides in so they meet in the middle and place the good side facing out.
Step 3. Fold the bath towel in thirds or quarters
It is best to fold the bath towels as little as possible, so that they dry well (this will reduce any musty or mildew odors). If the bath towels are to be laid flat, such as on a shelf, they are usually folded in quarters, to save space. If you are hanging, the towel should generally be folded in half or third.
Step 4. Roll up the towels for storage purposes
If you want to store towels in your bed linen cupboard or suitcase, your best bet is to roll them up. This method takes up the least amount of space. Just start at one end and roll tightly all the way to the other.
Method 2 of 3: Hanging Decorative Folds
Step 1. Fold and hang the bath towels
Fold the bath towel in thirds and hang it as usual.
Step 2. Fold the hand towel into several sections
Spread the hand towel on a flat surface with a vertical orientation.
-
Then, fold the bottom, short side up about 2/3 of the way.
-
Next, fold the same edge back down until it meets the bottom edge of the crease.
Step 3. Fold the hand towel in thirds
-
Turn the hand towel over, keeping the folds you've made. Next, fold the left and right long sides inward to create a third, and tuck one end into the other.
-
You should not have a pocket at the end of the side that looks good.
Step 4. Fold a small towel
Fold the washcloth back and forth like a fan then fold it in half to make a decorative shape.
Step 5. Hang the washcloth and hand towel
Hang a hand towel over a bath towel, and put some decorative ribbon or beads for a fun look.
Method 3 of 3: Decorative Folds of Shirt and Tie
Step 1. Fold the hand towel in quarter length
Fold the two long sides of the hand towel inward to meet in the middle, with one side slightly overlapping the other (like the side of a button-down shirt).
Step 2. Roughly fold the hand towel in half
Roughly fold the hand towel in half (space the sides together), so that the front is about 3-4 inches (7.6-10.2 cm) shorter than the other.
Step 3. Create the collar
Flip the top over the bottom until a collar is formed. Some adjustments may be needed to make it look perfect.
Step 4. Make a tie
Place the washcloth on a flat surface diagonally, creating a diamond shape.
-
Then, fold the left and right corners into the center and tuck the ends, so that they form a burrito shape. Tuck in the top corners and flip them all over.
-
Now you should have something that looks a bit like a tie.
Step 5. Tuck the tie
Tuck the tie into the collar of the shirt and place it all on the bed, cupboard, or other flat surface for display.
