Are you unfamiliar with Pokémon X and Y? Hondedge, a Sword-shaped Steel/Ghost Pokémon introduced in the sixth generation of Pokémon games (X/Y and Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire). Making the Hondedge evolve into its second form, namely Doublade, can be done easily, namely with train it to level 35. To make Doublade reach his final evolution form, which is Aegislash, you need Dusk Stone.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Making the Hondedge Evolve into a Doublade
Step 1. Find the Hoedge on Route Six
If you don't have a Hondedge, don't worry - Hondedge isn't hard to find in Pokémon X and Y. Route Six, namely the area that connects Route Seven with the Parfum palace. Route Six has its own distinctive feature, namely two rows of lush trees along the sides of a path in the middle. However, you'll have to reach the tall grass behind the tree, which means you'll have to get into it and head straight out through one of the paths on the side of the middle lane.
- Be aware that Hondedge has a 15% chance of spawning in tall grass. You may have to face a lot of Oddish and Sentret before you can find the Hondedge.
- You can also get Hondedge in Pokémon Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby. However, you can only get it by exchanging it from someone else. You can't catch Hondedge in the wild in Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby.
Step 2. Catch the Hoedge
No special strategy is required to catch Hondedge on Route Six. Once you find the Hondedge, wound the Hondedge until its blood reaches a low point (without killing him), then throw the best Poké Ball you have. The honedge you face will be at level 11 or 12, so the fight shouldn't be too difficult. However, there are a few things you might want to know:
- Hondedge is very weak against Ghost, Fire, Ground, and Dark type attacks.
- Hondedge is immune to Normal, Fighting, and Poison type attacks.
- Hondedge takes normal damage from Water and Electric type attacks.
- Hondedge received minor damage from attacks of other types not mentioned above.
Step 3. Train the Hondedge until it reaches level 35
There's nothing special to pay attention to when leveling up the Hondedge - just train the Hondedge slowly and steadily. Since the Hondedge will be level 11 or 12 when caught, you will need to level it up by 23 or 24 times for the Hondedge to evolve. This process may take some time, but you can speed it up with things that increase experience gain, for example:
-
Exp. Share:
This item grants experience to all the Pokémon on your team - not just the Pokémon participating in the battle. You can get Exp. Share from Alexa in Santalune City after you beat the Viola.
-
Lucky Eggs:
Pokémon that hold this item will gain 150% of the normal experience that should be gained from combat. You can find Lucky Eggs in various places::
-
- You can show Pokémon that have a high Friendship value to the woman in the Coumarine City hotel lobby.
- You can get it by winning the Graffiti Eraser level 2 game in PokéMileage Club.
- You can get them from wild Chansey in Friend Safari.
-
Step 4. Let the Hoedge evolve
Once Hondedge reaches level 35, Hondedge will begin evolution into a Doublade. There are no time or object requirements to be met for the Hoedge to evolve - the evolution will happen automatically.
Method 2 of 2: Making Doublade Evolve into Aegislash
Step 1. Find the Dusk Stone in the Terminus Cave. Doublades cannot be evolved into their final form, Aegislash, with normal training. To do this, you need a special item called "Dusk Stone". There are several places in the game that you can visit to get this item. This stone can be found quite easily in Terminus Cave (accessible from Route 18).
- Note that you can't reach Route 18 before defeating Team Flare and Lysandre in their base in Geosenge Town, so you'll need to do this first before you can access Terminus Cave and get the Dusk Stone.
- Inside the Terminus Cave, the Dusk Stone can be found on the second underground floor, which is at the far left. The Dusk Stone is to the left of an object called Iron, which is on a sharp rock.
Step 2. Alternatively, get the Dusk Stone from Secret Super Training
Another easy way to get Dusk Stones is to complete the Secret Super Training mini game. You must complete Secret Super Training level 6, which is "Watch Out! That's One Tricky Second Half!" By defeating the baloon bot Aegislash, you'll get an item as a reward - the Dusk Stone is one of the five possible prizes to be won from the game Secret Super Training level 6.
- You can access these mini games at any time via the bottom screen of your 3DS. The minigames are to the left of the Player Search System, and to the right of Pokémon-Amie.
- Keep in mind that only properly trained Pokémon can be used in Secret Super Training.
- By beating the given time target in the shortest possible time, you have a better chance of getting rare items like Dusk Stone.
Step 3. Use the other options to get the Dusk Stone
There are other ways to get Dusk Stones in Pokémon X and Y. They're not as easy as the ones described above, but you might want to know about them:
- You can get Dusk Stones by completing Balloon Popping level 3 in the PokéMileage Club.
- You can get Dusk Stones by defeating a Pokémon trainer, namely Psychic "Inver" on Route 18 with a score of 7 to 9. In battles with him, the strengths and weaknesses of Pokémon types are reversed. The score you get is the result of the number of "It's super effective" attacks you perform, minus the number of "It's not very effective" attacks you perform. Dusk Stone is one of ten prizes that can be won for a score of 7-9 (all possible prizes are stones that trigger evolution).
- You can get Dusk Stones by defeating Team Flare Grunt in Laverre City. However, this only applies if you've beaten the Elite Four.
Step 4. Use the Dusk Stone on the Doublade
Once you get the Dusk Stone, it's easy to evolve the Doublade. Just use it on Doublade, and the evolution will take place. Congratulations - now you have Aegislash!
- Dusk Stones will be used in this process, so think carefully before you use this rare item.
- There's no level requirement required for Doublade to evolve this way, but it might be best to delay his evolution until Doublade learns all the skills you want because Doublade can learn some skills that Aegislash can't as it levels up. Click here to visit a web page that shows all the skills Doublade can learn.
Tips
- It is recommended that you make sure that Doublade has learned the Sacred Sword skill at level 51 before you evolve it! This skill deals considerable damage and also ignores increased defense and evasion of the opponent. Unfortunately, Aegislash can't learn this skill as it levels up, so if you evolve Doublade too early, you'll lose your chance to get it.
- Aegislash has a unique ability to switch modes, namely between Shield Form and Blade Form. Shield Forme increases Aegislash's Special Defense status a lot, while Blade Forme increases his Special Attack status.
