You can only trade Pokémon between two games of the same generation: Generation I - Red, Blue, Green, Yellow Generation II - Gold, Silver, Crystal Generation III - Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, LeafGreen Generation IV - Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, SoulSilver Generation V - Black, White, Black 2, White 2 Generation VI - X, Y, Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire Machoke can be evolved into Machamp when exchanged for another player. This means you need to find someone who has the same game system and game generation as you, so you can swap Pokémon with them. Once you've traded the person's Machoke and the Machoke has evolved into a Machamp, ask him to trade it back to you. If you're using an emulator, you'll have to work around the system to make Machoke evolve.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Redeeming Machamp In-Game
Step 1. Find a friend to swap Pokémon with, or use one system and another game to swap
In order to be swapped, your friend must have the same generation of Pokémon systems and games as you. In Generation VI games, you can exchange Pokémon with other people online. Make sure that the person you trade with that you want Machamp back!
If you are using an emulator, it will be difficult for you to swap Pokémon. If you're playing Generation IV Pokémon, you can edit the ROM file so you can evolve Machoke by leveling it up
Step 2. Make sure that you meet the in-game requirements to swap Pokémon
You can't trade Pokémon with other people until you've done some things in the early stages. This doesn't affect most players, but it's possible that you're trying to trade your Pokémon too early.
- Generation I - You can swap Pokémon after getting the Pokédex from Professor Oak.
- Generation II - You can swap Pokémon after giving Professor Elm a Mystery Egg.
- Generation III - You can swap Pokémon after getting the Pokédex from Professor Birch.
- Generation IV - You can swap Pokémon after getting the Pokédex from Professor Rowan.
- Generation V - You can swap Pokémon after getting the Trio Badge and C-Gear.
- Generation VI - You can swap Pokémon once you have two Pokémon.
Step 3. Enter Machoke into the team (generations I-IV)
In early Pokémon games, you needed to add Machokes to your team in order to trade them for other people. In later generations of games, you can trade any of your saved Pokémon.
Step 4. Connect both devices
How to connect the device depends on the system you are connecting to.
- Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance - Connect two systems with Game Link cables. You cannot connect two Game Boys with different versions. Enter the Union Room on the second floor of the Pokémon Center to meet other players.
- Nintendo DS - You can connect to other nearby systems wirelessly. Generation V games have infrared features built right into the game holder.
- Nintendo 3DS - Press the L and R keys, then select Player Select System. This way, you can search for people nearby or connect your device to the internet and trade Pokémon online. When swapping online, make sure that the friend you're swapping with knows you want a re-evolved Machamp.
Step 5. Start trading the Machokes
Machokes will instantly evolve into Machamp when finished swapping. Have Machamp return from the friend you swapped with once the redemption process is complete.
Make sure that Machoke is not holding Everstone, or Machoke will not be able to evolve
Method 2 of 2: Evolving with the Emulator
Step 1. Understand the process of evolution in this way
You will use a special program on your computer to modify the data in the ROM file. The changes you make will allow you to evolve your Machoke into Machamp without going through the redemption process. This will allow Machoke to evolve when it reaches level 37. You'll need a computer to complete this process, but you can transfer the modified ROM file to your mobile device if you normally play with it.
Step 2. Download the Universal Pokemon Game Randomizer tool
This tool allows you to edit your ROM file so that Machoke (and other Pokémon that evolve after swapping) can evolve in the traditional way, by leveling up. You can download this fan-made tool for free from pokehacks.dabomstew.com/randomizer/downloads.php.
Step 3. Start extracting the folder that houses the Randomizer tool
Right-click the downloaded ZIP file, then click "Extract All". Follow the prompts given to create a new folder for the program.
Step 4. Run the Universal Pokemon Game Randomizer tool
Double click on the "randomizer.jar" file to run the program. The Randomizer window will open, with various options available within it.
Your computer must have Java installed in order to run Universal Pokemon Game Randomizer. See How to Install Java for a guide on installing Java on your computer
Step 5. Click the "Open ROM" button, then locate your ROM file
If the ROM is in ZIP format, you will need to extract it first before you can edit it inside Randomizer. You can use this tool for any generation of game ROM files (except Generation VI).
Step 6. Check the "Change Impossible Evolution" box
You can find this box in the "General Options" section of the Randomizer window. These are the only settings you should check or change within Universal Pokemon Game Randomizer.
Step 7. Click the "Randomize (Save)" button
By doing so, changes to the way of evolution will be applied to all Pokémon in the game that must be traded in order to evolve. Don't worry about the word "Randomize" on the button, because nothing else will change as long as you don't enable other options.
Step 8. Load the new ROM file into the emulator
Universal Pokemon Game Randomizer will create a new ROM file that you can load into the emulator. The old game save will still work as long as everything is in the right place.
Step 9. Raise Machoke's level to 37 or higher to evolve it
The ROM file will be changed so that Machoke evolves into Machamp at level 37 or above. This process will occur automatically when the Machoke level increases, just like most Pokémon in general.
