So you want to catch the Lake Trio, also known as the Spirits of the Lakes. They are Uxie the Being of Knowledge, Mesprit the Being of Emotion, and Azelf, the Being of Willpower. Capturing them all takes skill, patience and time.
Step
Step 1. Before starting, you must defeat Team Galactic and stop their attempt to destroy the world
You don't need all eight Gym badges. However, if you want, like most people, you can get the last Badge before catching this trio. Everything is up to you. You'll also need a Pokémon that knows Surf.
Step 2. Go to one of the three lakes in Sinnoh
There is Lake Valor on Route 214, there is Lake Acuity near Snowpoint City, and finally Lake Verity near Twinleaf Town (your character's home).
Step 3. Go to the small cave island in the middle of the lake using Surf
Step 4. Enter the cave on the island
You'll see Azelf, Uxie, or Mesprit depending on the lake you visit (Lake Valor for Azelf, Lake Acuity for Uxie, and Lake Verity for Mesprit.)
Step 5. Press A in front of the Pokémon to 'talk' and start the battle
Step 6. If you're fighting Azelf, or Uxie, lower his blood until it's weak enough, and (if desired) give it a status effect (ideally Sleep or Paralysis)
Step 7. Throw Dusk Ball (effective in the cave), Ultra Ball (good enough from the start) and Timer Ball (if the fight has lasted more than 30-40 turns)
Of course, you don't have to wear this ball; we only recommend it. If the opponent's blood has been lowered to 1 HP, you can catch it with any ball. I caught it with a regular pokeball. Not too difficult.
Step 8. Catch Mesprit before Uxie and Azelf, or after Uxie and Azelf
When you go to meet Mesprit to talk to him, you'll see his picture (which will then be added to the Pokedex). This Pokémon will then run away. Professor Rowan will come and tell me that Mesprit wants to play chase
Step 9. Use the Map Marker Poketch App to find out the current location of Mesprit
However, every time you cross a route or try to fly to Mesprit, the location changes completely (see Tips)
Step 10. Use Mean Look when trying to catch Mesprit (although you'll need a very fast Pokémon to do this, such as Golbat) to prevent it from escaping every time you attack or try to catch it
It's a good idea to use Quick Ball once Mesprit is weak enough and you see him again.
Step 11. Enjoy Your Lake Trio
Tips
- Don't forget to save your game before battling these three Pokémon, in case you accidentally beat them
- To make Mesprit easier to catch, go to the end of one route and the beginning of another, and make sure you are near tall grass. Keep changing routes and Mesprit will change positions frequently. Continue until he is in the grass near you. after that, approach and fight.
- Bring lots of Ultra balls or Dusk balls if it's night time because this trio of lakes has the same level of difficulty catching as other Legendaries
- If it beats you before you get caught, you can use Mr. Mime with Encore/Light Screen, or Golduck with Amnesia to block his attacks. You can even use Uxie once you've been caught.
- Kricketune has Sing, False Swipe (TM54) and X-Scissor very useful for early attacks and helps you catch them all.
- Status effects such as Freezing (frozen), Paralysis (paralyzed), and others are also quite powerful.
- Bring a level 1 Pokémon, preferred Rattata with Focus Sash and Endeavor and let the opponent attack him. Focus Sash will make Rattata survive with only 1 HP remaining, and use Endeavor to make the opponent's HP to 1 as well.
- Use Pokémon level 50 or above because this is your opponent's level.
- It's good to remember that when fighting Mesprit, the lake trio's battle song will play instead of the usual wild Pokémon battle song.
Warning
- Don't try to beat them. Legendary Pokémon are hard to catch, but if you save your game before you fight, you can try again.
- Don't get frustrated, whether you're looking for Mesprit, or trying to catch Azelf or Uxie. if you continue to feel irritated, take a break.
