The Sky Pillar is an ancient place that is home to the legendary elusive Pokémon Rayquaza. You must wake Rayquaza to stop the destructive fight between Kyogre and Groudon. By awakening Rayquaza, you can also catch him and add him to your team. See Step 1 to learn how to do both.
Step
Step 1. Go to Sootopolis City
To unlock the SKy Pillar, you have to talk to Wallace in Sootopolis City. You need a Pokémon with Dive and Surf skills to access it.
- You can get Surf in Petalburg City and Dive in Mossdeep City after defeating the Gym leaders in both cities.
- You must complete the event with Team Aqua that awakens Kyogre before you can move on to the next stage.
- Go to Route 126 which is on the southeast side of the map.
- Use Surf to walk to the south of the volcano that appears out of the water. Use the Dive above the dark part of the water.
- Enter into the rim of the volcano that opens underwater. Once you've entered the other side through the open edge, use Dive again to enter Sootopolis City.
Step 2. Find Wallace
Wallace can be found in the Cave of Origin, which is on the northern shore of Lake Sootopolis. You need to talk to Steven who is west of the Gym before looking for Wallace.
Talking to Wallace will open the entrance to the Sky Pillar
Step 3. Gather supplies before going to the Sky Pillar
Head to the Poké Center to recover your Pokémon, then buy the items and Poké Balls you need.
Step 4. Head to Route 131 with Surf
Sky Pillar can be accessed by walking using Surf. You can also access it by flying (with Fly) to Pacifidlog Town and using Surf to the east.
If you've never been to Pacifidlog Town, then visit the city so it's listed on your map. You can fly to Pacifidlog Town whenever you want, so it will be easier to reach Sky Pillar
Step 5. Find the entrance to the Sky Pillar
The cave that acts as the entrance to the Sky Pillar is in the upper right corner of Route 131. You'll need to use Surf and circle through the rock formations to find it.
Pass through the cave and exit through the Sky Pillar entrance at the top. Keep walking towards the top of the screen. You will find a door to enter into the huge Sky Pillar
Step 6. Climb the tower
You need to climb four floors of the tower to reach Rayquaza. The opponents you meet inside the tower are in the 30 to 40 level range.
- Use this opportunity to catch Claydoll as well as Golbat if you don't already have one.
- On the 3rd floor, you have to throw yourself into a hole in a dead end. By dropping yourself, you will be in front of a door that could not be reached before. Use the left door to reach the 4th floor.
Step 7. Wake up Rayquaza
When you approach Rayquaza on the roof of the Sky Pillar, Rayquaza will wake up and fly away. You have no chance to fight him now. After that, head back to Sootopolis City to see Rayquaza stop the battle between the two legendary Pokémon. Once the battle is over, all three Legendary Pokémon will disappear.
Step 8. Return to the Sky Pillar when you are ready to capture Rayquaza
After Rayquaza disappeared from Sootopolis City, Rayquaza would return to the roof of the Sky Pillar. To get there this time, you'll need a Mach Bike from the Bike Shop near Mauville City.
Rayquaza is at level 70, so make sure that your team is ready for a long battle and that you have all the items and Poké Balls you need. You can use the Master Ball to catch it directly, but if you don't want to waste the Master Ball, you can reduce its blood and use a lower quality Poke Ball
Tips
- You'll need a Mach Bike to get through the potholes, and you'll need to try a few times to get through them.
- You can use Max Repel to stop annoying wild Pokémon from attacking you.
- Bring a powerful Pokémon
