Xbox users who want to enjoy Xbox games on PC can connect their Xbox One console to their Windows 10 PC. Windows 10 comes with a built-in Xbox app that allows users to sign in to their Microsoft account and stream games directly from their Xbox One console. To play Xbox One games on a PC, you'll need to turn on your streaming settings and make sure that both your console and computer are connected to the same high-speed internet network.
Step
Part 1 of 4: Setting Up a Windows PC
Step 1. Make sure you are using a computer with at least 2 GB of RAM
This amount of RAM is needed so that the live streaming of games between PC and Xbox One consoles can run optimally.
Step 2. Click the “Start” button and select “Check for updates”
Step 3. Select the option to install any available updates for Windows 10
That way, the device can be updated and compatible with Xbox One.
Step 4. Click the “Start” menu again and launch the Xbox app
By default, the Xbox app is pinned to the “Start” menu on all computers running the Windows 10 operating system.
Step 5. Sign in to your Xbox Live account using your Microsoft account log information
If you don't have an Xbox Live account yet, select the option to create and register an account. Now, you're ready to set up your Xbox One for streaming.
Part 2 of 4: Setting Up the Xbox One Console
Step 1. Make sure the Xbox One console is connected to the same network as the computer
Microsoft recommends using an ethernet connection (wired) for best performance.
Step 2. Turn on the console and let the updates install automatically
With the update, the console has an optimal system for streaming games with a computer.
Step 3. Press the “Menu” button on the controller and select “Settings”
Step 4. Select “Preferences” and check the “Allow streaming to other devices” option
Now you are ready to connect the console to the computer.
Part 3 of 4: Connecting the Computer with the Xbox One Console
Step 1. Click the “Connect” button on the left sidebar of the Xbox app on the computer
The application will scan the Xbox One console that is connected to the internet network.
Step 2. Select a console name
By default, all Xbox One consoles are named as “MyXboxOne”. Once the option is selected, the console and computer will automatically connect to each other and you will be able to see the new options in the Xbox application window on the computer.
Step 3. Connect the Xbox One controller to the computer using a USB cable
If your computer doesn't have enough USB ports (or appropriate ports), you may need to purchase a micro-USB to USB cable adapter.
Step 4. Click “Stream”, then select the Xbox game you want to play on your computer
Step 5. Click “Play from console”
The game will immediately run on the Xbox One and broadcast to the computer. Now, you can play Xbox One games directly from your computer.
Part 4 of 4: Troubleshooting
Step 1. Make sure you've set your computer's time and date to adjust automatically if you're having trouble logging into the Xbox app
Sometimes, the mismatch of time and date can trigger problems when you try to sync your computer and console.
Step 2. Try entering the Xbox One IP address manually if you experience an error after clicking the “Connect” button in the Xbox app on your computer
The console IP address can be found by accessing the “Settings” > “Network” > “Advanced Settings” menu on the console.
Step 3. Try switching to a 5 GHz WiFi network if you experience interruptions (eg stuttering or stuttering) while streaming on your computer
With a faster connection, the streaming process will run more smoothly and efficiently.
Step 4. Try locating the WiFi router closer to the console if you are having trouble streaming with the wireless connection
Relocating the router can solve connection problems related to lags or slow streaming.
Step 5. Try buying a powerline network or Multimedia over Coax (MoCA) adapter if you can't stream optimally and can't use a wired connection
This adapter allows you to use the power cord you already have in your home as a high-speed wired network. Meanwhile, the MoCA adapter allows you to use your home coaxial cable system as a high-speed wired network.
Step 6. Adjust the streaming quality if you experience slow connection issues or stuttering while playing
Sometimes, problems with streaming occur due to default system settings.
- Open the Xbox app on your computer, select “Settings”, then click “Game streaming”.
- Select “High”, then continue the game to see if the streaming process becomes smoother. Otherwise, switch to “Medium”, then “Low” until you find the setting that works best for your computer and console.
