Xbox One is the best and latest console from Microsoft. Xbox One is capable of accessing games, internet, music, and even TV at the same time. Initial Xbox One setup can be set up very easily.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Preparing the Connection
Step 1. Find the Xbox One connection parts
Xbox One can accept many different types of connections, but connections must be set up first. The connections included are a Kinect sensor, an internet connection, and a set-top box if you want to watch cable TV via Xbox One.
Step 2. Connect the console to the internet
Before you do anything else, make sure that the console is connected to the internet. You can connect the console to the internet via a wired connection, i.e. using an Ethernet cable that connects it to an internet source, or you can also connect it to the internet wirelessly if you have a Wi-Fi router.
Step 3. Connect the console with the TV
Use an HDMI cable to connect the Xbox One to the TV. Connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI OUT port on the back of the Xbox One. The other end of the HDMI cable should be plugged into your TV's HDMI input port. If you have cable or satellite TV, you can connect another HDMI cable to the console's HDMI IN port, then connect the other end to the set-top box for cable or satellite TV.
Step 4. Connect the Kinect sensor
Connect the Kinect to the Kinect port on the back of the Xbox One. The Kinect port is between the USB port and the IR port.
The length of the Kinect sensor cable is 3 meters, so make sure that the Kinect sensor is close enough to the Xbox One
Step 5. Connect the Xbox One to a power line
Connect the power supply located on the back of the Xbox One to a power outlet. The power supply is located on the far left of the console when viewed from behind. After that, connect the power cable to the power supply. Finally, plug the other end of the power cord into the power line.
The Xbox One LED on the power supply should light up to indicate power is available
Part 2 of 3: Preparing the Basic Settings
Step 1. Turn on the Xbox One
You can turn on your Xbox One via a controller. Simply press the Home button on the Xbox One controller to turn on the console and controller at the same time.
- You can touch the Xbox One's front panel (where the Xbox One logo is located) to turn on the console.
- If you are using a wireless controller, make sure that you insert the battery first to turn on the controller.
- The Kinect sensor can be used to power the console apart from the initial setup. Normally, you can turn on your Xbox One via the Kinect sensor by saying "Xbox On" within range of the Kinect sensor.
Step 2. Follow the prompts shown on the screen
The first thing you'll see on the screen is the Xbox One logo on a green background. Wait for the process for a while, then the initial setup instructions will be displayed.
The first instruction given is to press A to continue. Instructions are given by displaying the Xbox One controller on the screen. After that, Xbox One will greet you for the first time
Step 3. Select the language you want to use
There are many languages available, including English, German, Spanish, and many others if you scroll through the list of available options. Select the language you want to use, then press A.
You'll notice that the Xbox One text on the screen will be instantly translated to your language of choice as a preview
Step 4. Choose your location
Depending on the language you selected, Xbox One will list your country of residence options.
Step 5. Define your network preferences
You can select a wired network or a Wi-Fi (wireless) network. It would be better if you choose a wired connection to make it more stable.
- If you choose a wireless network, you may have to enter your router password to gain access.
- If Xbox One fails to scan your router for any reason, you can press Y on the controller to rescan.
Step 6. Update the console
Since you just did the initial setup, you'll need to update your Xbox One. It's safe to say that an update will almost certainly be required on initial setup, no matter what version of the unit is used. You will need to connect the console to the internet in order to download the update which is about 500 MB in size.
The console will restart automatically after the update is complete
Part 3 of 3: Perfecting Settings
Step 1. Select a time zone
After the Xbox One restarts, you will be prompted to press the Home button on the controller to continue with the remaining settings. First of all, select your time zone. Also, the default options provided depend on the country you previously selected.
Step 2. Prepare the Kinect sensor settings
By setting up the Kinect sensor, you can sign in automatically using Kinect's built-in recognition feature, control your Xbox One with voice and hand gestures, chat with other Kinect users, and control the TV.
- Make sure that the speakers are connected to the Xbox One for Kinect settings, so that the speaker volume can be adjusted properly.
- Be quiet when you are instructed to do so. This may affect the Kinect sensor settings.
Step 3. Sign in using your Microsoft account
You can use the email address and password associated with your gamer tag. If you don't have a gamer tag yet, you can use your Skype, Outlook.com, Windows 8, or Windows Phone account information.
If you don't have an account or other options, you'll need to create a new Microsoft account to continue
Step 4. Agree to the Xbox Live terms and conditions of use
Take a look at the Xbox Live terms and conditions of use and give your consent. After agreeing to it, a privacy statement will be provided to you.
Step 5. Customize the appearance of the Xbox One
You will be given the opportunity to choose the colors to be used in the Xbox One color theme. After selecting, a dashboard preview will be displayed.
Step 6. Save the password
Before completing setup, Xbox One will ask if you want to save the password. It's recommended that you save it so that the console doesn't always ask you for your password every time you log in, but if you're worried about other users, it's best not to save the password.
You will also be asked if you want the Kinect sensor to automatically grant access when you are recognized
Step 7. Finish the setup process
Now, press the Home button on the controller to complete the setup and visit your Xbox One dashboard which has been decorated with the color theme of your choice. Enjoy your new Xbox One!
