In this day and age, ringtones are very easy to find, but the variety of cell phones and their different settings makes it difficult to find the right ringtone without having to pay the ring tone provider. This is where Zedge.com comes into play. This site selects the appropriate file for your phone automatically and they also have a variety of different ways to add ringtones to your phone. Check the steps below to get ringtones from Zedge into your phone without having to pay a penny.

Method 1 of 2: Get Free Ringtones with Computer
Step 1. Log in to www.zedge.com using your computer's internet browser
Zedge is a site that offers music clips, movie snippets, wallpapers, and many other things for mobile for free.
- All internet-enabled phones can use Zedge, including those that cannot receive ringtones.
- Android users can download the Zedge application for free to their mobile phones. Do a search with the word "Zedge" on the Google Play Store to access an unlimited number of ringtones through the Zedge app.
Step 2. Sign up to create a Zedge account (Optional)
If you plan to email yourself a ringtone, you'll need a Zedge account. You can also save songs, enter ringtones, and interact with members of the Zedge community if you sign up. Luckily, the account registration process is simple and only takes a minute or two. To enroll in Zedge:
- Click the word "Login / Sign Up" in the upper right corner of the web page.
- Enter a valid email address.
- Create a unique username of 5 characters or more.
- Create a password of six or more characters.
- Check the box labeled "I Agree to Terms and Services".
Step 3. Select the phone you are using
Click the button labeled "Select Your Device" in the upper-right corner of the browser window. You will be asked to type in your phone model and select a phone type in the list that appears.
If your phone type doesn't appear on the list, it's still possible to add a ringtone if your phone has a color screen and supports WAP, and most phones manufactured after 2005 are included. Choose a similar phone made by the same company (LG, Samsung, etc.) if your phone type doesn't appear
Step 4. Use the search bar to find the ringtone you want
Using the search bar at the top of the page, find the ringtone you want to use. You can test your ringtone by pressing the large play button to the left of the song to make sure that the ringtone of your choice is the right one.
Make sure that you select "Ringtones" from the drop down menu to the right of the search bar
Step 5. Click the song name
Doing so will take you to the song's page, where you can email the song to others, listen to it, or download the ringtone.
Step 6. Click the blue "Get Ringtone" button
Clicking on the button will open a small window with several options based on your phone type:

Downloads:
This option will save a copy of the ringtone on your computer so you can load it on your phone later.

Scan QR Code:
With your phone's QR code scanner (which you can download in the app store), this option will instantly send the ringtone to your phone.

Send to Mail:
This option will send a copy of the song to your email account, and you can use this option to put the song on a phone that doesn't have internet access. To use this option, you need an active Zedge account.
Step 7. Save the ringtone in the computer
You will be prompted to save the ringtone or "view file" using iTunes or another media browser. Save the ringtone somewhere you can easily find it, for example on your computer desktop.
If you have trouble doing so, try the "Send to Mail" option. Zedge will send the ringtone in the form of an attachment, accompanied by a download guide that is specific to your phone type
Step 8. Connect the phone with the computer
Most cell phones today have a cable that works to connect the phone to a computer, usually the connection is done via a USB port.
Step 9. Use the phone's media browser to load the ringtone into the phone
A media browser is a program where you can manage songs, pictures, ringtones, and other things on your phone. For example, the iPhone uses iTunes as a media browser. The following are common ways to add media files to the media browser:
- Open the appropriate media browser application for your phone. Usually this will happen automatically when you connect your phone to your computer.
- Click "File" "Import" in the media browser, then find your ringtone.
- In the media browser, click and drag the ringtone to your phone.

Step 10. Be aware that other non-Apple branded phones can access Zedge directly
While Apple doesn't allow downloads, other phones can use an internet browser to log into Zedge.com and download ringtones without having to load them into a computer first.
Method 2 of 2: Entering Ringtones Into Phone without Internet Connection
Step 1. Follow Steps 1 through 5 of the "Get Free Ringtones with Computer" section
To get Zedge's ringtones onto an older or less sophisticated cell phone, you'll need a computer with internet access. Find the ringtone you want, then click "Get Ringtone".
Step 2. Select the "Send to Mail" option, then send yourself a ringtone
Doing so will send the downloadable ringtone to your email account, and you can forward it to your phone.
Make sure that you save the email Zedge sent you and know how to find it again
Step 3. Find your phone's email address
Every cell phone has an email address that you can access using a text message, and you'll need it to get a ringtone. Your email address changes based on the cellular network service you use, but a cell phone email address always starts with your cell phone number. For example -- if the mobile number used is 234-567-8910 and the mobile network service used is Verizon, my email address is [email protected]. You can also use this trick for any mobile network service if you can't find your phone's email address:
- Open a new text message.
- Send messages to your primary email address (eg [email protected]).
- Open the sent message in your email browser and check the "Sender" section. The address it contains is your cell phone's email address.
Step 4. Forward the ringtone to your phone's email address
Select the email with the ringtone sent by Zedge, then send the email to your phone's email address. Make sure you "send all attachments available" because the attachment in the email is your ringtone.
Step 5. Open the attachment with your phone
Your phone should receive a new "message" after you send the email with the ringtone. Click or tap the attachment, then select "Save the Sound". You can now use your ringtone!
Give the appropriate name for the ringtone so as not to confuse it
Step 6. Change the ringtone of the phone in the Settings section
In the Settings section, select "Tones", "Sounds", or another similar menu. In it, you can see new ringtones and activate them for your phone.
Tips
- Apple doesn't allow iPhones to download ringtones directly from Zedge.com. However, you can put any ringtone on your iPhone through iTunes.
- Don't attach multiple ringtones at once as some phones can only handle a single attachment.
