If you've always wanted to review a product on YouTube or a personal blog, there's a way to do it! Many people review products for a living (or just for fun) and you too can join in with a little research and preparation.
Step
Part 1 of 4: Utilizing the Online Panel
Step 1. Select the online panel
One of the best ways to get started with product testing and review is to join the various online panels that specialize in this area. Sometimes these panels pay you to participate, but product samples are almost always available. Join one or more panels!
- Try signing up for Influenster, Smiley360, Opinion Outpost, I-Say Panel, or Global Test Market.
- Each online panel specializes in different types of products and offers several reward options so do your research to find the best one for you.
- For example, Global Test Market and I-Say Panel mostly offer household goods, while Smiley360 has various categories such as beauty, household, fitness, etc.
Step 2. Choose your product
After selecting the online panel, choose the product you want to review. Most online panel platforms allow you to choose the product that interests you the most from a number of options.
- Consider what items will be the most popular (to give your review more value), and choose items that really interest you. You will write a good review if you enjoy the work done.
- Some sites will post a sample or trial size product, although some will post a full version of the product for review.
Step 3. Write and submit your review
The online panel platform will ask you to review the product and give your opinion. Make sure you write thorough and thoughtful reviews and raise any concerns any customer could have.
- Try to include things like how the product works, product packaging, product efficiency, your level of satisfaction with the product, etc.
- The deeper your review, the more (higher quality) products the panel will send you.
- Sometimes these panels also ask you to participate in community discussion forums.
- However, don't forget that you can use this review for your personal blog or other social media product reviews, if you want.
Part 2 of 4: Strengthening Your Online Presence
Step 1. Be active on social media
One of the first things you need to do to get a company to send you its product for free for review is to create a follower base on the internet. If you are not active on social media platforms, no audience will read your review. This means that you will not be valued by companies that want their products reviewed.
- Use Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, personal blog, or other social media platforms to create an online username for yourself.
- Try to post an interesting post so that other people are interested and want to follow you.
Step 2. Review the products you already own
If you want to be involved in product reviews on the internet, you need to write a product review that you already have.
- Review as many products as you can to lay a solid foundation for the future advancement of your channel.
- Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each product honestly so that your review provides valuable information for readers. This will invite a larger audience to you.
Step 3. Work on growing your follower base
Once you've started being active on social media, try spreading the word about your product reviews. Promote your review through various places. Try to get more followers on social media platforms.
- It's a good idea to let comprehensive product reviews be created by popular sites, such as Amazon.
- Use hashtags for the company that created the product being reviewed. Link the company or product site directly in your review.
Part 3 of 4: Choosing Products to Reviewed
Step 1. Find a specific product that interests you
Choose something that looks interesting that you want to take the time to investigate and tinker with the product. While it may be a no-go in the end, you've done something you enjoy.
For example, you choose to review a smartphone case
Step 2. Be original
Try to choose a product that has not been widely reviewed by others on the internet. Surf the internet to see the types of reviews that many other people have done.
- It's hard to ask a company to submit its product for review when many other people (who may be more experienced) have done the same.
- Try to review products that have just been released.
- You can also try to review products that are difficult to obtain, such as products ordered from abroad. This type of product can be a good choice because customers are sometimes hesitant to buy products with long delivery times or very high shipping costs, especially if the quality and functionality of the related products are still in doubt.
Step 3. Find the manufacturer of the product
Find the company that manufactured the product you want to review. List the manufacturers you find, and record all relevant information regarding those companies. Does the company have a lot of product reviews from Amazon? Does the company have a professional-looking site?
Try looking for a list of companies that manufacture the product you're interested in on a site like Amazon. Find a company that makes and sells smartphone cases, if this is what you want to review
Part 4 of 4: Contacting the Company
Step 1. Prune your manufacturer list
Once you've found a few companies that sell smartphone cases, try to shorten your list so that it only includes small companies. You can measure the size of the company through its website. Smaller companies usually have sites that look mundane, unprofessional, and difficult to navigate. As a lay reviewer, companies like this provide the best opportunities.
Avoid companies whose brands are well known, at least until you are a bit more mature in reviewing products
Step 2. Gather information
Get the contact information of each company so you can get in touch. Usually, all this information can be found directly on the website of the company concerned.
Try to get your company's email address or phone number, if possible, both
Step 3. Contact the company
First, you need to email each company asking if you can review some of their products on their blog or YouTube channel. Make sure you include all relevant information in the first email so that it looks professional and well prepared.
Provide information about your channel or blog and the number of visitors, subscribers (regular visitors), age of your channel, average number of visitors per day, type of your channel and type of feedback in the comments section of your video or blog
Step 4. Wait for a reply
After sending all your emails, you can only wait a few days. Usually, in this situation the company will reply within 3-5 business days. If you don't receive a response for more than a week, please send a follow-up email asking for feedback on the previous email.
Make sure you send a thank-you reply for sending the product. Show your gratitude and professionalism, which will affect the impression the company has on you
Tips
- If there are already many companies willing to ship their products, try raising your level and requesting products from bigger companies. Use current reviews as a foundation to get a better product.
- Most importantly, you should live it happily. Try ordering a fun product you want to test. This channel is yours so make it something you enjoy
- You can't say bad things about the company if you don't send the product. That decision rests entirely with the company and it's possible that your channel doesn't meet the requirements. Just say thank you and move on to the next company.
- Don't be rude in emails and phone calls. If necessary, write or practice the conversation before calling or emailing.
