This wikiHow teaches you how to set up a Smart TV to connect to the internet. You can connect your television to your router wirelessly over a WiFi network, or use an Ethernet cable to set up a wired connection.

Method 1 of 2: Connecting the Television to a WiFi Network
Step 1. Open the television menu
Press the menu button on the television controller to view the menu options on the screen.
Step 2. Access the Network Settings menu
With this option, you can select the connection type and create a new connection to the internet.
- On some televisions, you may need to open the “ Settings ” from the menu first, then look for the “Network Settings” option afterwards.
- This option may have a different name, such as “ Wireless Settings " or " Internet Connection ”, depending on the television manufacturer or model.
Step 3. Set up a new wireless connection
Find and select the option to create and set up a new wireless network connection on the television. A list of all available WiFi networks in the vicinity will be displayed.
Step 4. Select the WiFi network name
Use the controller to select the network you want to connect to. You will be asked to enter the network password afterwards.
Step 5. Enter the password of the WiFi network
You will need to use the television controller to enter the password. After the password is confirmed, the television will automatically connect to the internet network.
Method 2 of 2: Using a Wired Connection
Step 1. Locate the ethernet port on the back of the television
You can use an Ethernet cable to connect your television to your router.
Step 2. Connect the Ethernet cable from the router to the television
Plug one end of the cable into the router, and the other end into the port on the back of the smart television.
Step 3. Open the Network Settings menu on the television
Access the television menu through the controller and look for network settings.
This option may have a different name, such as “ Wireless Settings " or " Internet Connection ”.
Step 4. Select the option to enable wired internet connection
After the option is enabled and the television is connected to the router, the television will immediately connect to the internet network.
