Pricing for used items you'll be selling can be confusing, especially if you remember exactly how much they cost when they were new. Keep in mind that visitors to your thrift market will be looking for bargain prices, so don't set prices too high if you want your sales to be successful. Read this quick guide to determine the right price for your used items.

Method 1 of 4: Determining the Price of Books, DVDs, CDs, and Games
Step 1. Sell the book for IDR 10,000, 00
People are generally reluctant to pay more than this for a used book, unless the book is a pretty hardback. Display your books in a box with the spine visible, or on a bookshelf that is also for sale.
Step 2. Sell the DVD for IDR 40,000, 00, of course if this is the original DVD
You might be able to put a laptop or DVD player in so people can test the DVD before they buy it. Show off DVD in their original box.

Keep in mind that CDs aren't as popular anymore, so CD enthusiasts may not be as big as they used to be. You can try selling a pack of multiple CDs by the same artist for a higher price if you want to sell them quickly.

People won't pay much more than that for used baby clothes, baby clothes are usually inexpensive when they are new. Make sure that the clothes are thoroughly washed and neatly displayed to attract buyers. If the clothing is a well-known brand and the label is still on, you can value it a little higher.

T-shirts, trousers, second-hand dresses and more should not be priced any higher than this, unless they are branded clothes and the label is still on. Step 1. Appreciate the furniture with not very good quality at a price of around IDR 100,000, 00 – IDR 300,000, 00
Furniture made with non-durable materials, or furniture that is very worn and scratched, must be priced lower in order to sell. At this price, you might be able to sell your furniture to students who want to furnish their dorm rooms at a bargain price.
Step 2. Sell high quality furniture for IDR 500,000, 00 – IDR 750,000, 00
Cabinets, tables, or bookshelves with sturdy wood can be used items that are highly valued. As a guideline, set the price at 1/3 of the original price. If you buy a new table for IDR 3,000,000, 00, don't hesitate to appreciate it for IDR 1,000,000, 00. If necessary, you can lower the price again later.
Step 3. Sell antique furniture for IDR 1,000,000, 00 and above
If there's a piece of furniture that's really special, don't hesitate to sell it for a high price. A worthy buyer will know a fair price for the piece of furniture and be willing to pay for it.
- If you're not sure how valuable your item is, do a little research first, or try asking an expert for an assessment. You certainly don't want to lose, do you?
- Display your most valuable items where you can always keep an eye on them.
Step 4. Sell home decorations for IDR 30,000, 00 – IDR 50,000, 00
Candle holders, frames, and other displays should be cheap, unless they are antique or expensive, such as fine art.
Method 4 of 4: Determining the Price of Other Items
Step 1. Sell computer equipment or other electronic equipment for IDR 200,000, 00 or less
Even if you buy your blender for IDR 1,000,000, 00, it will be difficult to find a buyer willing to pay more than IDR 200,000. -people find elsewhere.
Step 2. Sell kitchen utensils for IDR 10,000, 00 – IDR 30,000, 00
This includes plates, baking utensils, and other kitchen items. Make sure these items are thoroughly washed before you display them.
Step 3. Sell toys for IDR 10,000, 00 – IDR 30,000, 00
You can also give away some of the least expensive items, to attract kids and their parents. This way, maybe their parents will be more interested in browsing your thrift market and buying something.
Tips
- Donate the remaining items. If you can't sell all of your items and don't want to keep them any longer, you might be able to donate them to an orphanage or other places of need.
- Promote your second hand market clearly and broadly. If no one visits your market, of course, the goods will only be idle and unsold. So maybe you could put a sign on the streets around your location, or place an ad in the newspaper or the internet.
- Display your belongings so they are easy to see. On the day you open your market, make sure you put all of your things within your reach and neatly, so that what you need is easy to find.
- Anticipate bidders-people who come will expect a low price, so don't be discouraged if the table you valued at IDR 1,000,000 ends up being offered up to IDR 60,000. no longer needed!
