Step
Method 1 of 3: Original Recipe
Step 1. Choose a strawberry
Strawberries and cream are the best simple, peeled strawberry flavored treats. Frozen or mushy strawberries won't do; choose fresh strawberries that are at the peak of ripeness. Strawberries should be ruby red and firm, with a bright green top.
Step 2. Wash the strawberries
Put it in a colander and rinse gently with water, carefully cleaning all sides. Don't handle the strawberries too roughly or they may bruise.
Step 3. Cut the strawberries
Strawberries and cream are usually served with the strawberries cut into halves or quarters, but you're free to get creative here.
- Cut off the green tops with a knife. Don't cut too much of the strawberry flesh.
- Cut the strawberries in half lengthwise.
- Cut the inside in half to make four pieces.
Step 4. Mix the cream ingredients
Combine milk cream, sugar, and optional add vanilla and vinegar in a bowl. Use a whisk to mix all the ingredients together and help the sugar dissolve.
- Taste the cream. Add more sugar for extra sweetness.
- If you want to try another sweetener, use honey or agave syrup.
Step 5. Layer the strawberries into the glass
Each person will get about 1/2 cup of strawberries.
Step 6. Pour the cream over the strawberries
Add cream to each glass in equal portions. Pour slowly over the strawberries. Serve immediately.
Method 2 of 3: Strawberry and Mascarpone Cream
Step 1. Process the strawberries
Put it in a sieve and rinse it carefully. Use a knife to slice off the green tops. Cut the strawberries in half lengthwise, then cut them into quarters.
Step 2. Put the strawberries in a bowl and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of sugar
Leave the strawberries in the bowl for 5-10 minutes until the water comes out.
Step 3. Prepare the mascarpone mixture
While the strawberries react with the sugar to release the water, prepare the mascarpone.
- Place the mascarpone cheese and yogurt in a bowl. Add the remaining sugar and vanilla bean pods.
- Mix all ingredients together. Stir thoroughly or toss with a whisk.
Step 4. Serve
Add a spoonful of mascarpone cheese to a serving plate. Push in the center of the cream using the back of a spoon. Place the strawberry slices into the mascarpone.
- Sprinkle over the strawberries the remaining water from the strawberry bowl.
- If desired, crumble a bit of bread over each serving. Now the dish is ready to be served.
Method 3 of 3: Strawberries and Cream of Oranges
Step 1. Process the strawberries
Put it in a sieve and rinse it carefully. Use a knife to slice off the green tops. Cut the strawberries in half lengthwise, then cut them into quarters.
Step 2. Put a quarter of the strawberries in a large bowl
Add the sugar, grated orange zest, and grated lemon zest. Stir all the ingredients with a spoon so that the strawberries are completely covered. Cover the bowl and place in the refrigerator to infuse for half an hour.
Step 3. Grate the rind and squeeze the orange and lemon
Carefully wash the oranges and lemons, then pat them dry. Use a rind grater (if you don't have a cheese grater) to scrape off the top layer of the rind into a bowl. Continue until the skin has been grated, halve the orange and lemon and then squeeze.
Step 4. Make the orange cream
Put the cream in a bowl. Add the scraped vanilla beans, orange juice and lemon juice. Beat the mixture until the cream thickens to form soft peaks.
Step 5. Serve the strawberries and orange cream
Prepare each serving in a martini glass or small glass bowl.
- Place a scoop of orange sorbet in the bottom of the martini glass.
- Add a layer of soaked strawberries.
- Finish with a dollop of orange cream.
- Sprinkle with grated dark chocolate or chopped walnuts for garnish.
