Some of us must have been in a situation where we wished we had a different color of eyeliner just for one or two occasions. Instead of buying lots of colored eyeliner, you can use eyeshadow and eyeshadow brushes easily and quickly to achieve the same result.

Step

Step 1. Use an angled eyeliner brush (a brush with a pointed tip)

You can use whatever brush you feel most comfortable with, but angled brushes may be easier and more effective to use.

Step 2. Make sure that the brush you use is clean, to avoid the color shifting from when you used the brush before

It may be best to use a brush that has never been used if you are trying to use it as an eyeliner. Bacteria can easily get into your eye because the brush is so close to the eye

Step 3. Prep your eyes with a moisturizer or lotion

This will help keep your eyes from drying out from harsh eyeshadows. Eyeshadow is not intended to be used as an eyeliner, so it is better to protect your eyes first with lotion or moisturizer.

Be careful not to let the moisturizer or lotion touch your eyeballs. It won't do any harm, but it will hurt

Step 4. Gently wet both sides of the brush with water

Don't get the brush wet, just slightly damp. A brush that is too wet will make the eyeshadow runny and make it very difficult to apply.

You may try to use Vaseline. Don't use too much Vaseline so the brush is dense, but not wet

Step 5. Apply the brush into the eyeshadow

Coat both sides of the brush with eyeshadow. Tap the excess eyeshadow to prevent it from falling under your eyes when you apply it.

Try to use eyeshadow with a darker color so it looks like the color on the eyeliner. Good colors are brown, black, plum, or dark green

Step 6. Close one eye when you start applying eyeshadow

Start at the inner corner of your eye and follow your eyelid to the outer edge using the brush. Depending on how dark the eyeshadow is, you may need to repeat this step a few times.

Try to keep the brush as close to the lashes as possible for an accurate drawing

Step 7. Open your eyelids and keep your eyes closed

Allow some time to dry and settle before you blink, otherwise your crease will smudge.

Try to set it with a translucent powder so it doesn't splatter all over the day

Tip

  • Try using a mixing medium, your eyeliner will last longer and your eyeshadow won't dry out.
  • Apply a second coat of mostly dry color for a brighter, more pop of color.
  • If you also want to use eyeshadow, apply an eyeshadow of the same color to the rest of your eyelid.

Warning

  • Be careful not to get the eyeshadow into your eyes.
  • Using this technique can dry out your eyeshadow, so place the brush on the small end of your (pressed) eyeshadow.
  • Wash your eyeliner brush every time you use it to avoid transferring bacteria.
  • Make sure to use a thin brush. Eyeliner that is too thick never looks good.

The Things You Need

  • Eyeshadow with the color of your choice
  • Eyeliner thin brush
  • Room temperature water
