Never Have I Ever or “I Never” is a type of game that is often played to break the ice and learn more about the people you play with. In fact, you can play the classic version which is more suitable for people of all ages, or include alcohol in the game if you are old enough to drink alcohol. If you want to play the second version, make sure you don't drink too much alcohol and/or drive afterwards.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Playing “I Never” Classic Version
Step 1. Gather at least 5 players
Even though you can play with 1-4 people, the game will definitely feel less fun! After gathering 5 players, sit in a circle so that each participant can see each other's hands.
Step 2. Each participant has 10 opportunities represented by 10 fingers
Participants' palms can be placed on the floor or raised in front of their chest.
Step 3. The first player must name something he never did
To choose the first player, all participants can play rock, scissors, paper or interested players may submit themselves. After that, the first player must say “I never….” which was followed by surprising activities he had never done before. Instead, players choose activities that are likely to have been done by other participants.
If you are the first player, you can say, “I've never been to Europe,” “I've never been in prison,” or “I've never been punished at school.”
Step 4. Drop one finger if you've done the activity the first player mentioned
Participants who have never done this activity do not need to lower their fingers.
Step 5. Move on to the next player
Player rotation can be done clockwise. In other words, the participant sitting to the left of the first player will take the next turn. After that, the next player will repeat the same pattern and state an activity that has never been done. Participants who have done it before must lower their finger, while the remaining participants do not need to do so.
Step 6. The winner is the last participant whose finger is still raised at the end of the game
After the game ends, you can invite your friends to repeat it as many times as possible.
Method 2 of 2: Playing “I Never” With Alcohol Involved
Step 1. Gather at least 5 players
Since this type of game involves alcohol, make sure all players are adults and are allowed to consume alcohol. Actually, you can collect as many players as you want, but try dividing them into groups if you have more than 10 players.
Step 2. Make sure everyone holds the same amount of drink
Although the number of drinks can be adjusted according to individual preferences, it is better to prepare drinks in the same amount so that the game feels more fair. You can play with beer, wine, or mixed spirits.
You can also play with shot glasses (small glasses specifically for drinking alcohol in one gulp). Each time someone admitted to doing the activity stated by another participant, they had to drink one glass of alcohol. After that, refill the glass and continue the game
Step 3. The first player must name something he never did
To choose the first player, all participants can play rock, scissors, paper or interested players may submit themselves. In “I Never” games involving alcoholic beverages, generally the statements made sound “bold”, shocking, and relate to sexual activity. The first player must say, “I never…” and is followed by something he never does.
If you're the first player in the game, try to think of something you've never done but you know other players have done. That way, you don't have to drink and you can get rid of other participants more quickly
Step 4. The participant who has made the first player statement must drink
To make the game more fair, allocate a specific time for participants to drink their share. Generally, 3 seconds is sufficient time.
Step 5. Move on to the next player
Generally, the next player is the participant sitting to the left or right of the first player. After he said something he had never done, participants who had done the activity had to drink like the previous pattern.
Step 6. If none of the participants are doing the activity, it is the person playing who has to drink
If none of the participants in the game are eliminated, it means that the person playing has lost and has to drink alcohol.
Step 7. Repeat the game until there is one person left whose drink has not been finished
The game ends when one participant remains whose drink has not been finished. In other words, it is the participant who wins the game! After finding a winner, the game can be stopped or restarted.
Warning
- Don't drive after drinking alcohol!
- Don't drink too much alcohol. If you start to feel nauseous or dizzy, get out of the game and drink lots of water.
